On the way to Houston we saw one of the HEB trucks that deliver to the stores in Mexico I guess. Nifty. It was a little over a two hour drive, there was some construction before we got in Houston proper.
Just before the game after the Eyes of Texas. You can see how close to the dugout we are. Our seats are in the second row looking down the first base line. It was very, very hot. I wish I had looked for seats up under the roof. The roof only covers about 6 rows or so. The shade looked inviting. Parking was free, that was a surprise. The games are at Reckling Park, home of the Rice Owls in Houston, Texas.
Kenn Kasparek pitching. The Horns had a day somewhat like the middle of the season. Things didn't quite gel and the opposing pitcher gave them fits. They were playing St. John's from New York. Kenn and the Horns would get two quick outs and then let someone on. St. John's left 10 men on base and won , 2-1.
A pitching conference on the mound and a little batting advice on the side. I love the way Kasparek towers over everyone else. He is listed as 6'10", I think. Rather tall for a pitcher.
Kyle Russell batting, I'm pretty sure he had a single in this at bat.
Then here is Preston Clark attempting to bunt and move Kyle on over.
Preston Clark going to bat with Brandon Belt on Deck. The umpire was cleaning the plate and some of the Texas fans were being pretty hard on him. His strike zone was a little erratic.
Cole Green came in to try to save the day, but alas, as Joanna says, it wasn't to be. The Horns should have won. There were 4,200+ fans there and most were wearing burnt orange.
Texas is now in the loosers bracket which means they have to win three or four straight to win the tournament. That will be hard to do.
Rice beat Sam Houston State, 3-2, so Texas will play Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. tomorrow and Rice and St. John's will play at 6 p.m. More sunshine and heat expected. I will try to get some photos without the screen in them tomorrow.
Read about the game on Joanna's blog and on the official page.
Hook-em Horns!
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Hook 'em!!!!
Joanna, you said it well. Double argh!!! Go, Horns, go!
Jo: Very nice photos from your close seat.
Thanks, fishing guy. I just used the automatic setting for quick shots and I'm pretty sure the camera focuses on the screen and not the players. Ha. They are good for memories.
