Here is the start of the hair. Obviously much more to go. I did work on it a little more and am more satisfied. There are some of us that are wondering about putting on the hair before the background and face color. We are using watercolor paper. A first for me with pastels. Looks like I am learning some new techniques and equipment. Guess I will go check out the wetcanvas.com classroom and see what's up for the next step.

That is interesting...putting the hair in first. I'm looking forward to watching your progress on this project. Good start on the hair!
He hasn't said, but maybe the background will not be part of the lesson. Most portraitists put in the skin under the hair on her forehead as well. Interesting.
He did say something that he works right to left and down, where I work all over a painting. Hard for me to relate the colors, but I'm open to learning and trying it.
