Hunting and Inktober Day 2

Gene rode his trike so I walked to the first shady bench to see how low the water is in our lakes.  It is awful.  Our fisherman neighbor says they are down about 8 feet.  Yikes!

I sketched across the street first, then went to the bench.  These are half page in the Ohuhu sketchbook that is 7.5  by 10 inches, so about 3 x 5 inches each.  Sketched with a Sharpie pen and watercolor added back at the house.  It was getting very warm by about 10:45 a.m.

For Scavenger Hunt 132  https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-132-oct-02-oct-10.7320/

Number 1 plant/tree

Number 2 water - east lake with a few egrets and some turtles out.

Number 3 large equipment - the caretaker came up on the backhoe, hadn't seen him in a while.  Nice for me.  He stopped just as I started sketching and got off.  Looked around, got back on turned around and went back to do something.  I didn't see the lady get in my photo as I was hurrying to capture the back of the machine.

It is Day 2 of Inktober with a prompt of "discover".

This is on the bottom of the page with a Micron 005 and Micron Brush pen.

We discovered this praying mantis on the hummingbird feeder the other day.  It stayed there for several days.  When I took down the feeder for a refill I dropped him off on the porch.  It started slowly moving and I thought it would go back up on the feeder but it did not.

You did some nice plein air sketches! Too bad it wasn't cool enough to stay outside longer. It is sad that the lake level is down so much.

Thanks, Joan. It was good to have a short walk and sketch outside. Maybe in a couple of weeks it will be cooler. This week looks the same with a chance of rain on the weekend.

Thanks Joanna. Too bad I didn’t sketch it live for the Hunt.
