Dusty Appliance Pastel Sketch

I needed some color in my day so played in the dust.  I wiped the last pastel sketch off the UArt paper and went from there.  The UArt paper curls even though you tape it with a whole roll of tape.  It probably should be mounted but I'm not up to that.  For a "painting" I will use Pastelbord or LuxArchival paper.  I have quite a few sheets of the UArt.  Sigh......

This is a sketch done in 45 minutes or so.  The bottle and the mixer are about the same height.  For a better composition I should move the bottle closer to me and maybe put ends of the beaters in between the mixer and the bottle.  For a painting I would plan more.

It was fun to scumble the pastel around and try to capture the colors.  What have you been painting?  Or traveling or ???

Today was my Mom's birthday so I should paint a sunset, rainbow or cows.  She loved to take photos with her old Brownie camera.  It leaked light so she would tape it closed after she put the film in.  The camera did take great photos.

Her camera was something like this.  I got the photo from the internet at

You could probably buy one online.  I wonder if you can get film.  If so, you would probably have to develop it yourself, right?

Your mixer and soy sauce bottle look great, but you are probably right about the size of the bottle.

Love the camera. That is a really old one. I think you can probably still get film, but probably not easily and the film would have to be sent away or developed at home. I took a photography class way back and we developed our own black and white photos. Did your mom develop them herself?

Hi Joan, thank you, always look forward to your comments. They sent the film via a drugstore in our small town. It would be a week or so before they came back and sometimes they would not come to town from the ranch for a few weeks so could be a month before they saw the photos! She took quite a few considering the time and expense. The film was large so the negatives could be developed into large photos. Nice.
