Well, we traveled all the way to Austin for Gene's checkup and lunch with Joanna. I sketched in the Strathmore travel sketchbook which has watercolor paper but didn't use watercolors of course.

Number 1 free space - out the window while we waited. I used an Acurite 03 pen. I did not finish the sketch, notably the tree on the right. It is a covered patio with picnic tables and you can see part of a parking lot, didn't finish that either.
Number 2, vehicle with a challenge to do heavy equipment.
I drove up the road to a new house under construction to find a piece of heavy equipment. I should have used watercolor since the paper type, but I colored it quickly with colored pencil at home.

I am famously published, but not as an artist but as a photographer. A few years ago I received a note from a gentleman in Albuquerque that was writing a book about New Mexico animals. He asked if he could use some photos I had posted of raccoons. Of course I gave permission. Well, the book is published and I am credited with the photos. It is a reference book published by the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
The wow part is Jean-Luc Cartron mailed me a copy of the book! "Wild Carnivores New Mexico" edited by Jean-Luc E. Cartron and Jennmifer K. Frey is no ordinary book. It is beautifully done with a pretty dust cover and off white cloth cover. The page size is 7.5 x 10 inches and the book is 2.5 inches thick. It has 39 pages of contents, sponsors, maps, etc., and 1100 pages. It weighs 7.2 pounds. It was published in 2023, University of New Mexico Press and printed in China. There is an electronic edition and also has a Library of Congress Control number.

How exciting to have your photos in the book. Love the one trying to get out the feeder. Now I can say I know a famous photographer~
R's Rue, thank you.
Joan, it was fun to talk with Mr. Cartron way back. He sent an e-mail to warn me he was sending a big book! It is amazing and beautiful. Many tables and graphs but some nice informative text as well. Yay!
