Ink and Watercolor for Hunt 102 and Pastel Contest

Gene rode his trike so I sketched in front of the garage.  Cloudy but warm out, pretty perfect for Hunting.

For Scavenger Hunt from Life 102  https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-102-feb-5-feb-13.6569/

Number 7 nature - some of the trees across the street.  This is in the watercolor sketchbook with a Sharpie pen and watercolor added at the end of the sketch.

The scene, it is always interesting to decide what to leave out and what to paint.

Number 8 building - house across the other street, we live on a corner.  This is in the BookFactory sketchbook with the Sharpie pen.

If any of you are in Texas you are welcome to enter this pastel show received from Enid Wood, President of the Austin Pastel Society:

Please paint for the All TX All Pastel Juried Open Exhibition and ask your Texas resident pastelist friends to do the same! You might even encourage artists friends who normally work in another medium to try pastel.

The show is May 4 through June 15 at Artworks, 1214 W 6th St in Austin, a friendly and prestigious gallery. You have until Sunday, March 24 to enter. Delivery of paintings is April 30 & May 1.

The purpose of this show is to increase the visibility of the pastel medium in Texas, and to get to know all the pastel artists in Texas a little better. We’ll have an in-person opening and awards presentation on Saturday, May 11, featuring a gallery tour led by our distinguished Juror and Judge, Rita Kirkman, PSA-MP, IAPS-EP, CPS. All prizes are cash prizes, with a top award of $1000.

We need the help of every member to make sure that every pastelist in Texas knows about the show and that many of them enter. We have space for 80 paintings in the show. Wouldn’t it be great to have paintings from 80 different artists!?

This is the link to the entry form and Prospectus:

Nice that you can occupy your time while Gene rides his bike. I hope Gene is doing OK. I'm always glad to hear when he goes out riding. A friend's husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's last year after he fell a few times, and he isn't doing so well. He was a volunteer fireman for a long time, and isn't good at not being able to do what he always did.

Joan, thank you. It was good to be outside to paint. Gene falls down a lot. He was lucky to have the DBS, Deep Brain Stimulation, operation and he doesn't have any shaking. He does have difficulty walking but uses a walker. He has a tall one now so he stands more upright. Gene was a federal agent, Type A kinda guy, so not good at sitting around either. Hope your friend does well. Exercise is so important.

Oh Jo I so enjoy seeing your Hunt sketches. I have been doing some sketching of barns and houses with micron pens. Glad to know your hubby is getting exercise and doing better. Hugs

Nice work

Debbie, thanks so much. I like the Micron pens for sketching. Zig Millennium seem to have better nibs, but harder to find as a single pen.
