Tamales or Sketching?

It's hard to find time for sketching during the busy season. What should come first?  We made biscochitos on the 21st and tamales on the 22nd.  That means Jennie came.  Then Larry and Brandon came so we had to cook, play games, watch Hallmark Christmas movies, and go out to eat.  Of course we made our own Hallmark movie with the cooking, family arriving, Gene and I had a spat and made up.  Now we need the festival!  We may miss that!

I started a sketch of Chewbacca on my iPad and did not like it.  My colors were all weird.  Today I started Chewbacca again he was on the couch with Jennie, then I added Reece That looked weird as I couldn't see her body so had to add Jennies legs then kept going.  I messed up her chin (shudda done it with pencil first) since I was sketching free hand with ink.   Afterward she at least wasn't mad and didn't leave and go home, so all was good!  I'm lucky to have good models.

I then worked on Larry's shoes and started some Christmas presents ... oops break time over ... back to cooking.  Actually leftovers and Roadhouse Bastrop burgers for some of us.

Number 1 free choice, Jennie, Chewbacca and Reese
Number 2 footwear - Larry's
Number 3, holiday item - packages under the tree

These are in the BookFactory sketchbook with a Micron 08.

We found a new place to eat on Tuesday.  We had the windows washed (Luis did an excellent job if you need your windows done) and then went to McDade to the Post Office.  Why McDade?  No wait and just 12 miles.  It is 9 miles to the Bastrop Post Office but they are always so busy.  We decided to try a new restaurant for an early dinner or late lunch as well.  We found Scales Cafe  https://scales-cafe.com/  That was a good choice.  Gene had fried pork chops and I had red beans and rice with sausage.  They had cornbread pancakes for bread.  It was sooooo good.  You need to check them out.  Oh, peach cobbler was good, too.

December 24 calls for Joanna arriving.  Cooking posole, beans, rice and green chile balls.  Contemplating the real reason and hopes for the season, Christmas!  Opening presents and being all together.  Plenty of good food and company.  Yay and thanks to God for our good fortune and blessings.

Hope you are completing your plans and having good times.

Sounds like you are busy enjoying the season with company and cooking and dining out. Today flew by and I feel like I didn't get much done. I did a sketch of my tree, went out and brought pierogi to a friend, went to church and made dinner. I guess I did more than I thought. I had too much wine with dinner and will probably be asleep before the movie I pick on Hallmark is over. lol I should be wrapping gifts but I think I might mix them up right now. I can do them in the morning. Happy Christmas Eve!

Joan, I'm a bit slow at answering this, eh? We had a great time and having one more lunch in a little roadside cafe today before they all go back to their routines next week. You were sure busy. Your tree sketch was amazing. I always forget something in the last minute packing. I did this year, too. Sigh.... Wishing you the best for the new 2024. Hugs.
