We made it to the 602 Brew Pub on Main for the painting event and dinner. They are inviting artists paint every Thursday evening. They start about 4:30. Later, about 8 p.m., they have Karaoke. The artists get 15% off dinner and a free beer. I drink wine so not great advertising for the beer. It is very good, I did try their local beer when I was eating gluten.
You know I would prefer to work in pastels. Because I wanted something easy to carry and no mess, I decided to take watercolors, sketchbook, pens and waterbrushes that hold water. It made our evening very easy.
I also painted the watercolor for the June Water Media Challenge on creativespark.

It is always good to double up art opportunities.
Pear Cactus bloom, 9 x 12 inches in a Strathmore Visual Journal with Bristol 100 lb paper.
I have never liked Strathmore pastel paper. I was surprised how this paper works well with watercolor. It did buckle a little but will straighten out after drying well and being closed for a while. I've done several in the book. I also sketched with markers and ink in that sketchbook. The paper is smooth and the markers do not leak through.
When I finished and just before we left I did a quick sketch for the Scavenger Hunt 74.

Number 2, something you recently found - some folks sitting at the bar. A page in the same sketchbook with Ohuhu pens, different sizes. About 10 minutes at most.

The cactus bloom came out really well. I'm assuming the Bristol 100 lb paper is similar to the Strathmore toned paper sketchbooks and I've done watercolors in those with no problem.
Good capture of the four people you found at the bar!
Thanks, Joan. I seem to be getting a little better with the watercolors. Takes more planning. Can't wipe it all off and start again. LOL You definitely have the touch and paint so much. Loved your 30 day direct watercolor challenge. Amazing.
Your watercolor looks great. I would certainly paint for my supper!
bag blog, it was a pretty nice evening. Hope to do it again. Painting for supper is great!
I love these sketches Jo, especially the watercolour of the Cactus bloom ... it looks so 'fresh'. Great work!!
John, thanks. I'm always learning and watercolor isn't the easiest medium for me.
