My newest sketchbook for travel and to leave in the car is a Strathmore watercolor book. I sketched at the dentist office with the Acurit pen .30 that I leave with it. I added watercolor at home.

Number 5, Ruby - substituted fire engine red for ruby red
I sketched quickly, you never know how long you have to wait. The main tree looked better on its own. The firetruck showed up late, I already had the curb in place. Then another truck came and parked on this side blocking the view to the firetruck. I decided the sketch was done! I didn't get any lettering on the truck, too far away to see enough.
The Longhorns are in Stillwater, Oklahoma, playing the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Always a tough series. When the Cowboys came to Texas and played in Austin, the stadium music people would play the Willie Nelson song, "Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys". That isn't permitted anymore. Sigh.

Jo looks like you put a great sketch together while waiting at the dentist. The red truck makes it so eye catching with the greens. Hope you enjoy the weekend. Hugs!
Debbie, thank you. One of those times I was wondering about all the greens and like magic the firetruck showed up!
I love the Strathmore mixed media sketchbooks, haven't tried the watercolor but I'm starting to do watercolor again so may have to try one.
I like what you did -- especially the red and green, it really pops.
Hi Helen, I like this so far. I've been using Canson Mix Media and couldn't find a small one so picked this up. I've only got about 6 sketches in it so far.
The red firetruck turned up at the best possible moment. This came out nice!! The problem with sketching while waiting is that you're never sure how much time you have. lol
Joan, thank you so much. Painting or sketching "live" is always a challenge. The subjects move or something gets in the way. Or, I run out of time. You do so much sketching live that you know all the pitfalls.
This is a great sketch clearly done under changing circumstances. I keep telling myself I must do more sketching but I never get round to it. I'm certainly very nervous about attempting anything where there are people around, like in a dentist waiting room. Well done you.
John, thank you so much. My friend Sue kept buying me sketchbooks so I finally started. She sketches like I use a camera. If she sees something in a store she sketches it. Your drawings are amazing. Your new wood cutting is great, too.
