Dusty Alma Maters and Exhibit

I had fun playing in the pastel dust today.  Items that I needed for the Scavenger Hunt could be used for the Monthly Prompt Challenge March as well.  Items for the Hunt need to be sketched from life so I hunted down these items.

For the Scavenger Hunt from Life 60  I needed a pair - the mugs and
I needed something for hair - the teddy bear.  For the Challenge it was something to do with Alma Mater.  The Texas mug and bear are for Joanna's Alma Mater, The University of Texas at Austin.  The maroon and gold mug is for Larry's Alma Mater, Texas State University at San Marcos.  A perfect trio for a pastel sketch.

I sketched/painted this on the reused Pastelbord, 12 x 12 inches.  I used a variety of pastels.  The darkest ones are either Ludwig or Unison.   It took about an hour from wipe off to finish.

I like painting quickly.  Pastels and pen and ink are great for that.  A few strokes and a few lines and you are done!

The Austin Pastel Society Annual Juried show is up and running.  This past Sunday was the awards show.  You can visit the show online to see the winners and vote for the People's Choice Award.  It is fun to see the paintings and easy to vote.  You go to the website below.  You can click on each painting to get more info about purchasing or about the artist.  There is a place there to vote.  You can vote through the end of the show.

Hi, (not-so-anonymous) Joanna, I would think you like those. Didn't I sketch that bear for you before? He's too cute. Hugs.

Joan, thanks. Lots of mugs around here as you know. Nice they fit the prompts sometimes. Thanks for looking at the pastels.
