I'm hosting Scavenger Hunt 32. I recycled a list I used about a year ago on wetcanvas. I like to do alphabetical lists because it helps me find the 26 items for the Hunt without having to keep track of how many I have found as there are 26 letters in our alphabet. The challenge this Hunt is to do as many as you can or want in alphabetica order. I've done 3 sketches so far. Good for the challenge. My first was "A - allergy causing", the cedar tree.
Today I sketched B - butter dish and C - childhood. I sketched in the travel sketchbook so I could add a bit of watercolor. It is a Mix-Media Canson sketchbook. I drew with a Micron 02 and added my mix of watercolor, just a couple of colors.
The butter dish is glass, sitting on its lid. The childhood is an elephant I had when I was about 3 or 4. My brother gave it to his girlfriend in high school and he got it back when they broke up I guess and he gave it to me. I had it for years and when my brother, married to a different woman, had a son, I gave it back to him. After my brother's death the elephant found it way back to me after our house fire. My sister had been caretaker. Maybe her kids had it after my brother's son. Hmmm. Crazy. It is at least 75 years old. Yikes!!!
Here is the elephant. He is threadbare, not soft and his eyes seem pretty dirty inside or the white part has aged to a beige color. Do you suppose I called him Dumbo or Jumbo? Maybe I named him after my brother. I don't remember and no one around to ask.
Here is the list. Surely I can find "double" for my next sketch.

You should name him after your brother as a memory, ...
It does feel a bit like the little old chap is in retirement at a nice place ;-)
Hi, René, you are so right. Good idea! Appreciate the comments.
Love it.
Love your childhood memory elephant. He looks like he's had a bit of a hard time. lol And from your story it seems like he's bounced around a bit. Hope to get to work on some sketches for the hunt. Jerry has got me hooked on a Netfix series (Stranger Things) in the evening so I'm not getting my sketches done on the couch.
R's Rue, thank you so much.
Joan, I can't believe how old that elephant is. I still feel "young". Guess it is our mind. We haven't got into Netflix since our internet was so bad. We will see. Ha.
(Playing catch-up.)
I can't believe I have not seen that elephant. Where does he live in the house?
Joanna, Tommy lives in my studio on the shelf on my art table. Show you next time your here, if I remember. Ha.
René, I thought I answered you. Thanks for your comment and I have started calling the elephant, Tommy! Ha.
Tommy !!
It really suits him well, ... if I woludn't know better I would call him Tommy aswell.
"Hi Tommy, Leuk je te ontmoeten."
René, you made me laugh. Tommy says, "Nice to meet you, too." Maybe he will show up in a painting sometime.
