I thought I would play in the dust. "Something you would take to a picnic" was on the list for the Scavenger Hunt. Apples seemed to fit the bill and I always like to paint apples when I can't decide what to paint. That is one fruit we usually have on hand.
For Scavenger Hunt from Life Number 24
https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-from-life-24-may-14-may-22.3949/
Number 6, for picnic - apples
Number 7, oval or egg
Number 8, odd man out - the square box
Pastel on sanded paper, about 9 x 12 inches, assorted soft pastels.
The egg is hard boiled so it could go on the picnic as well. I can't remember the last time we were on a picnic. We did have snacks when I was painting or sketching, but that isn't a real picnic. Right?
My folks and their friends would go up in the mountains by Magdalena. They would let us kids come along to hike and gather wood probably. My dad would cook in Dutch ovens on a campfire, they would have some drinks and maybe some music. I loved that kind of picnic. Great memories.

I used to bring a picnic lunch along when Jerry and I used to go listen to music in the park in the evening. We haven't done that in a long time.
Joan, thanks for commenting. They had a similar thing in Austin way back when. Joanna and I went but they sold food there, so no picnic.
I havent been on a picnic since i was a kid, and we always had to watch out for the canadian geese attacking us lol
So pretty.
Jennifer Rose, we never had that problem in Canada but were attacked by some giant mosquitoes!
R's rue, thank you so very much. You are an inspiration.
The chair sketch and the apples are all great. I always love your apples.
When we lived in Dallas, right after Toby graduated and started working in the downtown area, I used to pack up Bo's diaper bag with picnic stuff, put him in his umbrella stroller, and catch the bus downtown to have picnics with Toby. Sometimes we walked over to the park/Memorial for JFK to have lunch. Good times.
bag blog, thanks. I like painting the old apples. Your picnics sound great. Thanks for sharing.
