Back to the Hunting - Sketching

The new Hunt started on the 30.  I am hosting so thought I had better do some sketching.

For Scavenger Hunt from Life 26

After the lunch/dinner at Jennie's we had a quiet Memorial Day at home including the moment of silence.  No cooking except for some breakfast muffins, the rest of the day was left overs and sandwiches.  Glass of wine in the evening.

Number 1, steps - I have sketched our porch steps so many times and foot stools that I decided to sketch Gene's "steps".  In the big regular sketchbook with a Micron 02.  He is such a nice cooperating model.

Today we walked by the ponds/lakes and found a birds nest.  I guess the squirrels or possums got to it.  No eggs.

An item on the list was bird, so thought this fits as it pertains to birds.  I like painting bird's nests so here you go in pastel.

I wiped off the sanded paper where I sketched the apples and egg a while back.

Number 2, bird - pertaining to birds, a nest.

I didn't work on the background too much as it is just a sketch.  It was good to play in the dust.  I just used pastels I had in the tray of my easel.  I need to clean that out so I can start with "fresh" colors next sketch or painting.

I ordered some pastels and paper from Dakota Pastels.  They had a sale on a Schmincke half stick set.  Maybe new pastel candy will inspire me to paint.  I'll try anything, right?   A good excuse to buy more pastels!

Oooh...a bird's nest. That will be great for sketches!!! This one came out really nice. I love that the construction of the nest can be seen. Have fun with your new pastel candy.

Joan, thanks, the nest was a fun find. I didn't keep it in the house. It was sort of falling apart when I moved it. Do they have bugs? Fleas? My pastels have been shipped!

The bird's nest was great! I really like the colorful background. I've been wanting to order some new pastels too. Toby is planning on making me a table/cart for my pastels, if I nag him enough. I always think organizing myself - making it easier to get to my pastels would help inspire me.

Bag Blog, oh, neat that you will have a cart for your pastels. I find I do use mine more when they are out. My studio is so messy now I have the pastels covered with sketches and junk! Hope you do better and inspire me!
