Art in Person

I always like seeing art ...and artists ... in person.  So I broke down and put a couple of paintings at the Lost Pines Art Center for the summer. Remember I said I wasn't going to do that.  Artists prerogative to change our minds, right?

The Lost Pines Art League Member Show will be up June through August.  The opening reception is Saturday.  There are other activities going on during the day and the reception in the evening.  Check out the website for details.  Lost Pines Art Center  https://www.lostpinesartcenter.org/

I have two paintings in the exhibit.

Puddles
Pastel on Pastelbord, 12 x 12 inches
Framed in dark wood 3 inch frame under museum acrylic

Where in Smithville?
Pastel on Pastelbord, 8 x 10 inches
Framed in dark wooden frame with regular glass.

Artists can always Slowly folks are starting to get out and about more.  That is good.

I was reminded of something the other day.  When artists present their work they should use the best products.  One way to economize on framing is to paint in standard sizes.  If your painting doesn't sell in a show, you can put a new painting in the frame and keep the "old" painting in storage and show it on your website or blog or facebook, etc., where ever you show your work.  I use museum glass now and museum acrylic.  These glazings stay with the painting, so it is expensive.  Regular glass can be washed off and used again.

It is expensive to keep and store framed paintings.  When I painted often, I could rotate the paintings.  I usually had 20 or so paintings on hand.   Selling prices include the expense of the better glass or better frame.

Where in Smithville is under regular glass.  We painted that day and had a show that evening so for expediency I used regular glass.  I would be happy to re-frame under museum glass or acrylic.  This would increase the price depending on the glazing.

I ordered some new pastels and pastel paper today.  I'm going to paint!!

Glad to see you put some work into the show. I try to paint and sketch in standard sizes and do the same thing...swap out the paintings from my nicer frames. It is so hard to make room for all the framed paintings!

Thanks, Joan. Since I haven't been painting much I don't have any to switch. Need to get with it!

I picked up my art from Viridian last week. I managed to sell a few paintings. I am wanting to spend my earnings on new pastels.
