Watermedia Fun

Doing something new is supposed to be fun and pique my interest.  Not sure if water media is the answer,  but I found out a few things in the process.  My normal style is a little tight for letting watercolor just flow any old way.  I used some acrylic inks and those dry and then don't mix with the watercolor paints.  Good thing experiment with and get to know.  The acrylic ink I have is electric bright colors.  They don't photograph well.  I thought they might be nice for under pastels, but they are slick and the pastel doesn't really stick to them and the ink fills the tooth on the paper.

I put some of the acrylic ink with the eyedropper that comes with them and spread it around and then added watercolor and then some ink lines to define some of the petals.  The acrylic inks were yellow, orange, green and blue.  Then a variety of regular watercolors for shading and background purples and darks.

They do resemble flowers, just not sure what kind.

We shall see where I go from here.

And for the lazy susan sketches from the last post, here is a photo of the benches they have by the office buildings.

Pretty nice benches for sketching or lunch.  The businesses are not walk in businesses as they are out at the end of a dead end street away from town.  I assume the benches are for workers and visitors.  The pencil cholla (cactus) I sketched the other day are where you turn around.
