Lou Baggett (bag blog) is a great blog/painting/friend buddy as you know from following me all these years. She and her daughter, Jesse, have been competing in the Art Battle for a few years. They each won a state title as I recall. Now Jesse won the Texas Art Battle and will be competing in the National Art Battle on April 2. You can download an app, go in person or watch on facebook. If you get a chance to watch and vote for Jesse that would be great.

The contest is interesting. They paint a large acrylic painting in 20 minutes while the crowd cheers them on and you vote on the painting you like. You can bid on the paintings as well.
Go, Jesse, Go!!

Thanks for the shout-out on Jesse and me. I only won a battle, but not state. It is all pretty wonky actually. I think they make up the rules as they go. And if one person can't get to the next step in the battles, they find someone who can. There is a line in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" where one of the pirates says of the Pirate Code, "They're not really so much about rules as they are guidelines."
bag blog, it is pretty cool that you guys have won as you did. Jesse surely will win this time, too. Wish we could come watch. Maybe a miracle will get us there.
Those pirates knew what they were doing maybe. Some juried art shows seem like that too.
