Life in the way of Art Sketches

Just when I get going, life comes along and interrupts my train of thought.  I forget where I was and end up not sketching, painting or posting.  Oh well, most of that comes with age.  At least that is my story.

We are sketching for Hunts now on creativespark.art  It is a friendly site.  You can see our sketches without signing in.

I sketched in the big book, first with a Micron 02 and then with the Sharpie Pen.

#8 sweet, #9 spicy, #10 savory

Molasses, red chile and Spam.  My dad always liked molasses on biscuits and I got the taste.  The red chile is from a fund raiser for the University of New Mexico (haven't tried it yet).  Spam was something I didn't like growing up, but love fried with eggs, chile and tortillas.  So these items make a meal ... almost.  The spam is "Lite", I haven't checked how lite it is compared to regular.  Sometimes I buy the H.E.B. brand but with the shortages, I get what I can.

#11 Ellipses - our oatmeal for the day.

I'm off to paint today.  Already a late start.  We went to breakfast at the Texas Grill.  No complaints there.   We haven't had too much trouble yet getting groceries.  We are so fortunate to have the H.E.B. stores in Texas.  They have their own brands, trucks and farms.  This helps a lot.  People were complaining about the shelves not being full.  We are very happy with our store.

Glad you got back into some sketching for the hunt. I have been lazy and haven't done much.

I was never a fan of spam. My mom made it once in a while...fried.

Joan, yep, I've been lazy, too. I need to paint for a Christmas show at the Art Center.....due next week.
My mom used to boil spam with potatoes and onions. So unpleasant. Ha. I learned to like it fried to cover up the eggs I never liked.

ashok, thanks so much. These felt a little like homework, but I got them done.

Jo that combo of spam, red Chile and molasses made me smile. I remember my mom buying spam and fixing it different ways. It is something I have never purchased. As a kid I too didn't like it but who knows as an adult I might enjoy it. Oh those ellipses are so challenging for me. I really need to practice more of these. Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs!

Debbie, Spam is something to get used to for sure. There is or was a Spamarama day in Austin. Never went but they supposedly have even Spam ice cream. I can’t imagine. Thanks on the sketches. Ellipse are interesting. I should take more care with them.

never had spam, or any canned meat actually, it just doesnt look appealing lol

Jennifer Rose, I agree about the looks. We lived out in the country and sometimes didn't get to town for a month so canned food was needed. My dad loved canned tomatoes with sugar for dessert. We had fresh beef and chicken. My dad always had a garden for the basics. My mom didn't can herself, so we relied on canned goods in the winter. We had canned ham once in a great while. Pretty good. :-)

WE never had Spam around my house, but I have had it at some time in my life. We were more of Vienna Sausage eaters. I loved eating those little weenies from the can. Toby and I eat molasses on biscuits and other stuff like sorghum or ribbon cane when we can find it.

Bag Blog, Gene loves the Vienna Sausage. They have them with jalapeños now which he likes. I like molasses, but no one else in the family does. Nice to "see" you.
