You see lots of Texas stars around here. Many decorations on houses, flag poles, signs, inside houses, well, everywhere are big copper or metal stars for our Lone Star State. I love them. It is "almost" like seeing our National Flag, Old Glory. I'm not sure if it is because we lived overseas and we only saw the flag at the Embassy or what, but the flag makes my heart pump a bit faster. I love our country.
We went to lunch at Gracie's for Gene to get his chicken fried steak fix. I had the Charlotta which is a take off on Frito Pie. It doesn't have New Mexico red chile, but is a pretty good substitute.
Number 2, group of three - there were three stars on the wall, about a foot or a bit more in size. Two were copper and the middle painted red, white and blue. The wreath hanging on the photo of the good old boys is made of barbed wire. Ouch! There is a lot of history in barbed wire and many art items are created from it. Fences in the old days were always barbed wire at the ranches. I've torn my shirt or gouged my hand a time or two. This is in the little sketchbook, two pages, with a ball point pen. About 5 minutes before we got our food.

A short post by James Gurney. Good advice about painting what you see. It is short and I would just copy it but that isn't very kosher, is it? I think I get too literal when I paint and need more imagination or feeling. You would think after all these years ...... Have fun and come back soon.
