Almost any food is a treat for me. There are so few foods that I don't care for. Sea urchins and black eyed peas come to mind. I looked at our gifts to fine a treat for the Scavenger Hunt 660.

We received a gift from Kathy and Dan. The boxes are sort of a pale grayish plaid with red lids and red bows. Very festive. Contents are Cabernet Sauvignon wine, a variety of summer sausage, cheeses and mustard. It will be fun to try them out.
I sketched at the dining table with a Micron 02 in the big book. Freehand and as quick as possible. It is a sketch after all.
Number 8 treat - goodies in boxes
We need to get groceries today for supplies for the New Mexico cooking for Christmas. Jennie and the grand-dogs arrive tomorrow. That will be fun! She helps with all the cooking traditions. We will have lunch on the way probably at the Texas Grill.
I have an app for our H.E.B. grocery to make lists and find which aisle everything is on. Very helpful. I'm amazed at how expensive beef has become. They advertise a prime rib roast for $137 or more. Happy that is not a tradition in this house. The pork for everything and the beef for the chile balls will probably be about $60 for all. Whew.... The total will be over $200. How do families with children afford to eat? Especially when not working. Time for another donation to the Food Pantry. I give a percentage of my sales to them, but haven't been painting or selling so .....
Congress has sat on their butts for the bill to help. We definitely need time limits on those folks. All they do is work on their retirement and getting rich from the lobbyists and donors. They don't care for their employers ... us. One Senator said he couldn't stay in Washington to work on the bill, he had to be home for his 61st anniversary, much more important than the small businesses shutting down and the folks out of work. He gets his paycheck from us. They also got the vaccine since they are essential, right? Sigh.....
I'm going to the store.......no more grumbling.

Nice sketch of the treats!!! Yes, the price of everything has gone up a lot. It seems I go to the grocery store and buy very little, but spend at least $40...and there is no meat in the bag. It is infuriating that those in power have been doing nothing to get us back on the road to recovery. I am so lucky to have a good pension and health coverage, but there are so many people hurting. This year Jerry and I decided not to do gifts for each other. We don't need anything. So we have donated what we would have spent to charities that help feed and help those that need it. I think that is a better use of our money.
Joan, we do the same. We draw names for a small gift for the tree and donate sort of adopt a family for Christmas and send some early so they have it for the holidays. Been doing it for a few years. Thanks for stopping in, keeping in touch is important.
We do stocking stuffers. Usually we put out gift sacks for everyone and then anyone can stuff whatever into the sack. You get lots of silly little things and usually a few nice things. It is just fun.
Politics are crazy these days. Getting rid of the pork and draining the swamp sounds good to me. I don't think giving every Tom, Dick, and Harry $600 is the answer. That just seems like a band-aid. Maybe if they had government loans and grants for people/businesses who were really needy rather than just giving away money willy-nilly. Such a circus!
Bag Blog, your stocking stuffers sound fun. The $600 or $2000 is not a good way to do things. We will get money that way and we have had a good income, it should go to folks out of work and jobs. Some of the loans the first time round went to big companies instead of small businesses. Irritating.
