I sketched in the big book with a Lamy pen. That is a regular fountain pen. If you stop your line and don't lift the nib off the paper, it can continue to release ink and make blotches. It also makes wider lines. It must have a medium point/nib instead of a fine line one. I do like the smooth feel of the real pen and ink.
Gene was kind enough to let me use his hands for a model. I have sketched my own hands so many times. I should have done a pencil sketch first because of all the intersections and shapes. I should have remembered to just sketch the negative shapes or background shapes. The hands do not look like Gene's hands, take my word for it. Another day, another try.
Number 7, right
Number 8, left
Number 9, green - Gene's thermos
Number 10, tree - it was foggy so I could not see the lake or the background trees across the lake.

Art Connections on the square in La Grange, Texas, is open now through
Christmas with extra hours and will open by appointment. They will be transferring from a brick and mortar gallery to on line sales after the first of the year. They have a very good online shopping mart that you can use for some artsy shopping. Right now you should really take advantage and visit the gallery in La Grange. It is hard to describe how wonderful it is to see such a varaieta of art in one place.

Deborah Johnson, owner, has been so supportive of my art and always showed my paintings . I have not been painting so she doesn't have any of my work at this time. She represents over 150 artists. There are many artists, techniques, media, and ideas at Art Connections. Artists are mostly local but others that you might have difficulty in finding elsewhere.
Deborah has helped the communities of Bastrop and La Grange by serving on downtown committees and promoting the towns in other ways. Maybe someone will take the opportunity to keep the gallery space going, how about you?
Artists need the support. Many depend on art for their living and did not qualify for the government help. Think about your shopping list and have a look. You won't be disappointed.

Good sketches!
Loved the work on the gallery website. She has some really gorgeous things and so many!
Joan, thank you so much. Art Connections is so fun to see. Such a variety and unique items.
Sketching hands is always difficult. You could have told us that the sketch looks exactly like Gene's hands and we would never have known the difference :)
Bag Blog, I think both the pen and my lack of concentration were involved. Something that involved requires a pencil sketch first. I like drawing hands, a challenge. Poor Gene!
the pen does make really nice lines :) perfect for sketching
Jennifer Rose, thank you. I really like drawing with real pen and ink. You do have to think a bit more. Have to get used to the stronger lines when I haven't used it for a while.
