We went to Austin today. I sketched in the waiting room while we waited to talk to the psychologist about the next surgery for Gene. He is agreeable so it is up to the surgeon.

These are in the little travel sketchbook with a Prismacolor 03. One in the waiting room and one at the restaurant on the way home. Very fast and loose to say the least.
Number 5 water - the water fountain on the wall
Number 6 alcohol - at the Good Times at Dry Creek restaurant on the way home. It is in Del Valle and was previously an open air motorcycle restaurant. Pretty nice now, good food, good service and reasonable prices. We will go back. Gene had "grilled" meat loaf and I had a chicken fried steak and a glass of Texas Wine, Palo Duro, near Amarillo.
The company that took over wetcanvas is declaring bankruptcy. We don't know what that will do to our Hunts and other on-line fun. wetcanvas was originally run by artists and got too big. Can the artists take it back? Hmmmm.
My encyclopedia artist friend, Katherine Tyrrell in England wrote a post about it.

I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

That news is sort if shocking. We take so much for granted and don't know a lot about what is going on behind the scenes.
Good to see your sketches from when you were out. You are good about remembering the items on the list and sketching them when you are out. I'm lucky I remember one thing. lol If I sketch something out of the house that fits it is usually a coincidence. At one time I used to take a list with me of what I could sketch out of the house. I guess I got too lazy.
Joan, I wonder how long Blogger will stay free. I guess as long as some bloggers use ads on their pages and pay for it for me.....:-)
I rarely remember the items for the Hunts when we are out. Sometimes sketches just fit like you say. Sometimes I look at the list on my phone. I was going to sketch a bottle of rubbing alcohol to be different, but we had lunch and were waiting .... so the wine.
I'm not surprised, its another case of a company not moving with the times. I feel bad for the people who have books with them, it leaves them in the dark
Jennifer Rose, yep. The company has/had their fingers in lots of pies. Maybe they can restructure and save some things.
I don't know much about Wet Canvas. Years ago I attempted to use it, but it was too complicated for me :)
Bag Blog, wetcanvas is a bit complicated but once you find your group/groups it is good. I have made some great friends and enjoy the forums. I have especially had fun in the Scavenger Hunts. I've met Joan and almost met some of the others, talked on the phone at least. Then in the Southwest forum we met Ron Swearingen in Wyoming and others by phone. It's been good. The company has restructured for the Chapter 11 so maybe they can keep wetcanvas going. Hope so. Artists are their customers after all, they should try to keep us happy. Dick Blick is a big sponser/advertiser and they must get lots of business through wetcanvas.
