Back to Normal

Back to normal, whatever that might be.  I sketched in the big book with a Micron 01 and colored pencil.

The sketch is not very vibrant with color.  It takes way to long to color a big sketch with colored pencil and is boring.  I will include a photo for reference.

For Scavenger Hunt 570  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1458710
Number 5, coriander or other spice - no coriander in our world .. ever.  Hot Shot pepper as a sub.
Number 6, fern or other plant - this plant is recovering from a summer of no watering.  It was much bigger!
Number 7, dragon fruit or other - Texas pink grapefruit
Number 8, opening to something interesting - glass to the pink grapefruit juice.  The grapefruit made about 8 ounces of juice, it is sweet and smooth.  Yummy.

Coriander is the seeds of cilantro, both are not well liked in our family.  It is one of the reasons we don't care for Tex Mex.  Most restaurants over use the stuff.  I don't mind in in Thai food like lettuce wraps or something like that, but definitely not in Mexican food.

Ai, artist in Thailand, draws dragon fruit once in a while and for this Hunt especially.  I saw one in "My" HEB a few months ago, but didn't price or buy it.  Haven't noticed them lately, but Gene does most of the grocery shopping.  Thank you, Gene!

HEB is a Texas grocery that advertises as find it all at "my HEB so I shop at "my" HEB regularly.  It is a super grocery and very helpful to the local community.  I really miss HEB when we go to New Mexico.  Sigh....   When there is a flood or hurricane they dedicate all their bakeries to making plain bread and bottle water at their soda plants to get it out ASAP to the areas where it is needed.  You can order on line if you need something you can't get in your area.  Recipes and more at  https://www.heb.com/

We are back to normal too. Whatever that means. I love cilantro - a true TexMex :)

Dragon fruit is usually not too much money and worth a try if you can find some :)

that is really great for the store to do for people when there is a crisis

Thanks, Jennifer Rose. I'll try the dragon fruit next time I see it. Yep, HEB is a special chain of groceries.

Happy New Year, Jo! You and your sketches are such an inspiration! After each visit to your blog, I promise myself time to sit down and sketch ...but...

Frank is great doing our grocery shopping too! Aren't we fortunate?!

This sketch would make a great painting - just sayin!

I like your still life with substitutions. I had seen a dragon fruit in the market here. I think it was about $6. I wasn't spending that amount on something I wasn't sure I would want to eat. lol I don't know if I'm back to normal yet. I'm too slow getting the hunts done and I don't really have an excuse...just procrastination. lol

Joan, thanks. I don't think you procrastinate very often. You are too busy for that, so you deserve a break.

Rosemary, thank you so much. I read your comments and then didn't post it. Sorry. It is super to have a built in shopper. I'm happy to see you in 2019. Didn't we meet via Susan Carlin and her online painting? I love seeing your work. Toodles....
