New Hunt 556

A new Scavenger Hunt 556
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1453565

The sketch is in the big book, about half a page.  I sketched with the Prismacolor 01, quick and free hand.  I'm sure you can tell from the perspective on the bottles.  It might not be as obvious on the other items.  Before I started the Scavenger Hunts, I sketched a lot of landscapes.  No one can tell how much you are off or if it actually looks like the place you are sketching.

The Hunts have helped me to be better at detail and perspective.  That is, if I pay attention and want the sketches to be accurate.   That is usually the plan, but I rarely stick to it.

Number 1, seasoning
Number 2, food - I sketched my leftover chile burger and fries from the night before.  Most food in the house is still in packages.
Number 3, sweet treat - mini cinnamon roll.  I usually don't eat these, Gene loves them.  I will admit I heated some decaf and ate the model plus one more.

We went to Santa Fe the day before to see Gene's cousin and have lunch with him.  It was Orlando's birthday.  We had lunch at Atriscos, which used to be Diego's.  Very good and traditional New Mexico fare.

And a few snapshots on the way back to Angel Fire.

A snap of the National Cemetary as we went past leaving Santa Fe.

The retaining walls and bridges are painted southwest colors and have native designs on them.

Beautiful stormy sky and rain showers.

I like the different layers of mesas and mountains.

Of course, a windmill is almost the same as capturing the Ladrones (mountains by Magdalena)

I tried to see Joe Anna Arnett's work in person.  I have always liked her still life paintings and now she does lots of plein air, too.  https://joeannaarnett.com/  The gallery, Zaplin Lampert Gallery, that represents her was closed for Labor Day.  Pbftttt.

We did go to see Mikki Senkarik's work at The Santa Fe Art Collector. https://senkarik.com/  She had a show there over the weekend.  They sold about 10 of her paintings and there were about 10 left on the wall.  I like the bright colors and happy scenes.

No time to do more art walking.  Today we may go to Taos .. check back and see.

Love the photos...amazing skies. I always enjoy seeing what you sketch for the hunts. I'll have to go get the new list.

I take it that you did not do the High Road thru Chimayo. I haven't been to Santa Fe in years. It seems we always scoot around it, but never the Plaza and art galleries. Maybe I need to go play tourist some day soon.

Bag Blog, yes, we left too late to take the High Road. My favorite way to go. Didn't work out to eat in Chimayo either. I really love that. We aren't doing my birthday, well, both birthdays there this year either. We didn't have time to do more galleries. I still have never been to the O'Keefe gallery. One of these days......
