Feathers, Never Have Any

Feather comes up on the Scavenger Hunts once in a while.  We do not own a feather duster.  Gene picked up a random bird feather and kept near my desk in my studio for the Hunts.  It was interesting to have the mask on the wall here and then it came up on the current Hunt.  Nice.

The sketch is in the big book.  There are so many pages in that sketchbook that it is nice to have some different items to sketch in it.  This is done with a Prismacolor 01 and watercolors.  I intended to use colored pencils as they are more friendly in the big book.  The colored pencils are downstairs and the watercolors were here.  So....

Number 4, feather - a mask with lots of feathers.  Maybe it is a Kachina mask.  It looks like it would fit over someones face but has't been used.  Time wise, about 30 minutes.

We went to dinner last night at The Enchanted Circle Brewing Company.

It sounds better than it is.  I couldn't find a website other than facebook.  The food was pretty good.  They didn't have steak which Gene wanted.  The fish tacos have battered fish.  We settled on burgers.  We were there about an hour and a half.  For some reason I feel it is not welcoming.  I went with Lou and her cousin when they were here and it was the same.

There are not many dining choices here this year. The grill/bar are closed at the Resort Lodge.  Like all small towns help is hard to come by and also groceries it seems.

The view coming back up the hill at dusk and the gazebo at the main intersection of Angel Fire.

I LOVE the feathers Jo!! Nice work with the mask!!! If you were here in New York you would find a restaurant on every block. Actually too many to choose from. Lol. However I'd rather live somewhere near mountains....ahhhh, I can dream , right???

The mask and feathers are fun. I sometimes zentangle feathers - basically a glorified doodle.

Angel Fire has always been sort of hit-or-miss on places to eat. I think the problem is that life is so seasonal there. It is difficult to make a living. Red River has a more supportive summer season, but it is still difficult to make it through the off seasons.

hmuxo, thank you so much. There are some beautiful places in New Mexico that we have felt were great to live in. Problem is the services. No hospitals, schools, restaurants, etc. Plus and minus for both country and city. It has been great that we can stay here in the hot weather. We shall see how many more years we can keep it up! Not spring chickens. Ha.

Bag Blog, I would like to see your feather doodle. Sounds neat. This is the slowest we have seen Angel Fire. There haven't been so many extreme bicycle riders this season. I guess folks that stay a while don't eat out as much. We tend to eat dinner out and use left overs for lunch.

I remember years ago someone in RR saying it was a mistake to build hotels/condos with kitchens, because it would really hurt the restaurants. I also remember hearing a restaurant owner say he loved it when the Memorial Day bikers came to town - campers stop in Texas and load up on groceries, but not bikers - all they can bring is their woman and their wallet!

there is nowhere here to eat really except a few pubs (which are overpriced) and a few fish and chip places.

Bag Blog, that is so true. We eat out most evenings and have left overs for lunch. Our friends, Joan and Kent, cook most evenings I think. They eat out more than average, though. Of course we do that at home, too! The big thing here is the extreme bicycles, I think their diets are mostly beer. Ha.

Jennifer Rose, you must live in a small town, too. That comes with the good part of being nice and quiet, right?

yep small town, just over 6000 people live here and the quiet is nice until the neighbours kids scream bloody murder for no reason :p

Jennifer Rose, that sounds good. Except for the screams. It is quiet here as kids are back in school and the locals are mostly older folks.

i know kids play and make noise, no problem at all with that at all, its the screaming like they are getting killed for no reason that I dont get :/

most of the kids around here are good kids, much better than other places we have lived.
