Thingamajig Sketch

A plein air sketching day with Pomona is a good thing.  We started at the Coffee Dog and went to the Art Center to sketch the Thingamajig.  We had both attempted to sketch it before but decided to give it a bit more attention.  I'm not sure if it works, the man that sold the land to the art group made this machine.  It is very large.  I'm guessing the wheel probably sticks up 20 feet and it is close to 30 feet long. It is in the sculpture garden now.  I'm pretty sure it is not called a thingamajig.

When I finished I turned around to be more in the shade and sketched across the street.

For Scavenger Hunt 544  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1448674

I'm stretching this to fit the Hunt.  Number 8, tree and Number 9, flower.  I call it a stretch because if you saw the marks out of context you would not be able to tell they are trees and flowers.

We finished and had lunch at the Art Center.  The hot temp was not too bad with a breeze in the shade.  It was time to be done at noon, though.

I always like your sketches. It is getting hot. Time to go to the mountains. Toby may have to go to India for two weeks around the first of Sept. Halliburton is having him train the people who are taking his job - ha! I'm not sure what that means for our vacation plans. I may just have to come on my own when I get hot enough :)

Thanks all, we aren't sketching out now in July. Too hot! Off to NM soon.
I will investigate the thingamajig next time I'm at the art center to see if it has/had a use.
