Happy Sketching

Pomona invited me to meet her and a couple of her student friends for a morning of sketching.  We went to The Crossing where there are restaurants, shops in old repurposed buildings and many antiques by the Colorado River.  We sketch there pretty often as you know if you follow along with my blog.

It was a pretty day and I managed a couple of sketches and "made" them fit into the current Scavenger Hunt 542.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1447919

Number 10 seashell - substituted an old car shell.  Always fun to sketch the old cars.  This is 7 x 20 in the travel sketchbook with a Prismacolor pen 05 or 03.

Number 11 and 12.  Tree bark and drapery.  Using the draping of the flags for the drapery.  Prismacolor Pens and watercolor.

We met at the Coffee Dog, sketched at The Crossing and then went to the Lost Pines Art Center to look around and have lunch in the coffee shop.  It was fun to meet new artists and see a few "old timers" at the Center.

Gene and I went to his doctor in the afternoon.  They are trying to regulate his Parkie medicine.  A bit of a hard time for him.  Getting off his meds and then back on.   Hope it works, not easy.  After, we met Jennie, Brandon and Larry for dinner in Austin.  Always fun to see the kiddos.

After winning the Big 12 Baseball Championship, the Longhorns went to Oklahoma to the Big 12 Tournament and promptly lost their first two games to Kansas and Oklahoma.  Well, the only two games as it is a double elimination tourney.  Two and barbeque as they say.  The top 4 seeded teams lost to the lower four the first day.  Sigh....   The Horns will get to be in a Regional tournament but not sure if they will get to host one.  Hopefully.  Hook 'em Horns!

Sorry to hear they are messing with Gene's meds - hope they can achieve the goal quickly, that is an icky process. Glad you got some sketching with friends in!

The sketches are fun as always. I always think of the Big 12 tournament, but never get up there. Of course if you had been going, it would have been incentive to go. Maybe next year.

Thanks. It is good to paint/sketch with others. Gene is doing OK. He is ready for the rest summer in NM. It was 47 degrees up there in the morning and about 75 in the afternoons. Nice.
