Catching Up with Bastrop Sketchers

I hadn't realized it had been a week since I posted.  Wow...  I went out yesterday on the first Wednesday to meet up with the Bastrop Sketchers.  Well, it was just Pomona and I but we made the most of it.  I think we stayed from 10:00 a.m. until about 4:30 p.m.

We had coffee at the Tough Cookie Bakery with snacks.  I sketched outside waiting to see if anyone else would be joining us.  Then back inside for more coffee and sketching and visiting.  We left after the lunch hour and went to Neighbor's Kitchen for a glass of wine and more sketching.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our time together.

Sharing info and sketching is good for the heart!

My sketches fit into the Scavenger Hunt as well.  Always a plus for me. Two birds with one stone, etc.

Number 5, storefront or house - this is 601 Cyclery, a new bike shop in the old building.  Gene's Terratrike is there on consignment if anyone is interested.  Matt, owner, makes, repairs and sells bikes and trikes.  There was a small trike with a basket outfront and I saw him use it to take his trash to the dumpster.

Number 6, basket - a couple in the Bakery.  They have prints, art, and all sorts of goodies for sale.  They support the artists and welcome us to sketch.  I had some avocado and pistachio on a pretzel bread toast.  Oh, my, so good.

I started another sketch with watercolor and didn't get to the ink part.  I usually put ink first so was trying something different.  Will I finish it?  Who knows.

I won't bore you with all the baseball from last weekend.  It was down and up in Manhattan, Kansas, against the Kansas State Wildcats.  Texas won 1 of the three.  Then on Monday night McNeese came to Austin and the Horns won, 5-4 and on Tuesday the Horns traveled to Corpus Christi and won against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  There was a lot of crazy plays including an umpire getting hit by the ball and a grand slam home run by Kody Clemens.  You can read about the games on the Texas Scoreboard and Schedule page.  http://texassports.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball

Remember the old Hee Haw TV show?  They had a news part and the announcer would say something about "here are the scores from the weekend baseball:  7-5, 3-0, 5-6"  So there you are then.

long time spent sketching :) less people means more time to sketch but to also eat where ever you want to, less people to argue about where to go :p

Joan, thanks. Yep, I seem to belong to the wine sketching group, too. Ha.

Jennifer Rose, that is a good thing to be able to do what you want and stay as long as you want. :)

The store front is great. You did really well on the lights and darks, which is sometimes tough with a pen. It looks like a cool bike store.

Bag Blog, thanks. It is interesting to use the brush pens for the darks. Hard to decide where to use it.
