I sketched my breakfast first. Hard to keep from eating it while I drank my first cup of coffee. About 30 minutes from start to finish on Canford paper by Daler-Rowney. The paper is smooth but holds pastel well. I like it. I didn't want to corret much because of the white paper and wanted to avoid a background color. A mix of pastels.
Number 6, breakfast
While the house cleaners, Honeybees, were here I went out to our bluebonnet patch and sketched with a Prismacolor 01 in the travel sketchbook with 7 x 10 inch pages. Watercolor was added after back in the house.
Number 5, seasonal - the bluebonnets from our scraggly patch. We have about 10 plants which were mowed a month or so ago so they had to start over. Other fields are full and thick. I marked the patch so they won't get mowed again. Hope I remember sooner for next year. The Pin Oak tree is budding out near them. The one in the yard is much fuller, better soil??
One of the bluebonnets, they are so pretty, and so Texas!
A lone primrose in the yard. Hope they don't mow that section. We will see how it goes.
Yellow over the fence.
One of about three Indian Paintbrushes and a yellow something.
The tree budding out.
Spiderwort
Blue Eyed Grass (I think)
It is supposed to rain over the next couple of days, so the field back of the house should be very full of the yellow flowers.
UT Baseball over the weekend was in good weather as well. The Oklahoma State Cowboys came to Austin. OSU won on Friday night, 6 - 0. The Horns came back and won on Saturday 7-1 and Sunday 10 -5.
On Friday after I got back from Austin, we were supposed to get our car out of the shop. It had a transmission problem. The car was to be ready about 4, so we turned in the rent car and and waited at Guadalajara restaurant. They didn't get it finished until about 6:00 p.m. Baseball started at 6:30 so no way we could get to Austin in time. We went to Neighbors and had pizza and watched the game. We had a good time. Saturday I went to Austin without Gene and we both went to the game yesterday. A good weekend all in all.
Living in the boonies has its perks. The view, quiet, nice house, etc. Telephone service, internet and TV are not great and costly. The UT Longhorn network televises all the home games for all the sports. It is advertised as "free". We have Directv and in order to get the "free" Longhorn Network we have to subscribe to a sports package. So not "free". We usually don't care as we just go to the baseball games, but would have been nice on Friday.
I listen to away games on the internet. With the new satellite internet we have horrible service in the evenings. I won't be able to listen to some games. The service, Exede (Wild Blue), advertises download speeds of 12mbps. At night we get about 1 to 2mbps. I complained and they said the ads say speeds "up to 12" and I could get better speeds at a different time, say 3:00 a.m. I told them they shouldn't have oversold their service. I went to check just now to see what they are advertising and they say they are not signing on new customers in our area. Wish they hadn't signed us up a couple of months ago. Sigh....
And a funny note, I thought of this as I was typing: we didn't want to pay for the sports package for a few months just to have the free Longhorn Network. I think it would have been about $80 - $90 for 3 months. We spent about $80 at Neighbors the other night for one game. But we had a good time. Such is life.....

Nice sketches! Too bad the speeds are so slow and interfere with the reception of the games. That must be frustrating.
I like the pastel sketch. Is the paper supposed to be for pastel or is it just good drawing paper? And I always like your watercolor sketches.
Sigh, internet problems! We still look around for good internet, but nothing good has come up. Hughes Net has sent out new advertisement saying they have no limits to data, but the very next line in the ad is "but if you go over your data, we won't charge you more..." They usually say something like "up to" speed, but they don't say you can only get that speed at 3 in the morning. It's all a scam.
Joan, thanks. Guess we are really spoiled. A few years ago there wouldn't have been any service of any kind. Sigh... We can see most of the games which is good.
Bag Blog, the paper is pastel paper. The pad I have was mixed colors, I had one with only black paper, too. Thanks. My sketching has been pretty sketchy. Ha.
no idea how fast the fibre is here, i think i would die if I had to back to "normal" net
yeeah they are always so sneaky bout speeds, and most people are not up at 3, hence why it is faster *shakes head*
Jennifer Rose, thanks for sharing. Yep, I can always listen to the games at 3:00 a.m. Ha. They are sneaky.
