Wouldn't you like to have fifty pairs of boots? I love boots but rarely wear them anymore. My only pair is red, not an everyday color. They are also expensive to just sit in the closet and wear once a year. I like looking at them and amazed at all the designs and colors. These boots could be on my wish list!
These were sketched for the Southwest and Western forum on wetcanvas.com. It is in the coffee table sketchbook and done with an assortment of Prismacolor fine line markers/pens. The photo, women's boots from New Mexico, provided by Kay from Big Spring, Texas. Check out Kay's neat photos to sketch from in the February Challenge

I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

These boots are made for walking...I've always wanted a pair of boots like these, but couldn't justify having a pair here in NY. I did look at a lot of them when we were in Nashville and almost went for it. lol
Wonderful sketch Jo!! I love the choices for your future sketches... Looks like fun. (Especially the barn!!! A favorite). Good luck with the challenge..
Joan, awww, you could do it. Here in Texas they wear boots with shorts, formal wear, swim suits, whatever. In the old days, my boots were not fancy and used for work!
hmuxo, thank you so much. I usually get one or two things done in the challenge. I'm not fond of working from photos, but I enjoy the SW forum and artists there.
I am trying to picture all the boots that i lost in the fire in 2011. I can picture at least 10 pairs. Do not think I ever bought a pair of Lucchese I was temped more than once though. I wore cowboy boots every day to all the embassy's i was ever in always and also in Washington DC to meetings in the State Dept. Guess I just wore them all the time. I do remember it was a problem to pack when I traveled cause of the bulk and I tried to always to travel with one suit bag and a carry-on size bag in order not to check bags. Those were the days!
Gene, yep, I remember. You said, "It drove all the State Department snowflakes nuts!"
By the way I checked the definition of snowflake in the urban dictionary (there are many and some not so nice) :
"A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.
This has nothing to do with politics. Snowflakes can be liberal or conservative. Whether it is a compliment or an insult is a matter of opinion and depends on the context."
I liked your boots! I remember we had one pair that my sister and her husband wore, then you and I shared after high school. Black, roper heel, working cowboy boots!
cowboy boots dont fit me lol hurt my toes no matter what size i get, which is a shame because I have seen some really nice pairs
Jennifer Rose, you need ropers boots with the rounded toes! A good pair can be very comfortable and warm in the winter.
