These are just gesture sketches with an assortment of pens.
And a few photos. You should check it out for next year or find a Powwow close to you.
I really like the buckskin lady dancers and the traditional. The black/turquoise guy had the best design for my taste.
The fancy dancers close out the show with their color and pizazz. Wow, amazing athletes.
The grand entry and more are led by the head dancers, Brennah Wahweotten and Cecil Gray.
Me and Jennie, can you see we were having fun? Our annual mother daughter fun!

Great sketches, especially the gesture ones. I can understand putting down the pens to enjoy the dances. If I go to something like that I have to concentrate on the performance and sketching takes away my concentration. Both you and Jennie look like you were having a great time.
The buckskin ladies are amazing. The beading is amazing. And the colors!
Bag Blog, yes, the colors and designs are fun. One of the guys had put mirrors on his headband. Reminded me of the dancers in Bolivia. They even used light bulbs for eyes on the Devil Dancers. :-)
Joan, we were not there during intermission this time to sketch. Even then there is plenty of walking around, dressing and movement. Hard to sketch. I get sidetracked to easily. I didn't take as many photos this year either. I think I absorbed it better. Ha.
I love going to them :) so much energy and they are such happy gatherings :)
Jennifer Rose, I imagine you went in Canada, bet they had some great and beautiful outfits. We never happened upon one in Canada when we visited. Thanks.
The outfits were gorgeous! yeah saw a few when I lived in Alberta :)
Jennifer Rose, beautiful country "up" there, too.
the non flat parts are nice, but I lived in the very windy and very flat part lol loved the big sky tho :D
Jennifer Rose, guess I was thinking up north in Alberta. We drove through and went to Yellow Knife. Been through Regina several times on our cross country runs. The plains are similar to our Great Plains. We lived in Lubbock, Texas, and it is darned flat there. Dusty and windy and prairie dogs..... : )
northern alberta can be pretty :) its almost like entering a different world leaving the plains
Jennifer Rose, very much so! : ) When we lived in Lubbock, I did love to see the lightening storms far across the plains. Tornadoes were scary, though. We never were in or close to one, thank goodness.
