Hunt 514 Pastel Sketch

Working on the "p" list still so set up in my studio.  I decided to just wipe of the last pastel still life sketch and use the same Canson paper so it is still on the rough side.  It took about 30 minutes total.

Number 8, pet - kangaroo rat, thanks to Gene.
Number 9, pastel - a few of the pastels I used to sketch with.

Excellent sketch Jo!!! I have never painted on the rough side of the paper... I actually like the effect....:)

hmuxo, thanks. The grid is OK for some work. Canson actually sold some mounted paper for a while and they mounted it to use the side with more grid. Most artists seem to like the smoother side so .... I haven't used any of the mounted paper in a few years. I just looked, they sell it in sheets and also have a sanded paper I have never tried. It is a slight bit less expensive than Colourfix I see on Dick Blick. Hmmm.

Hi Jo,
I used the sheet of color fix paper from Blick's and I use it to paint some of my portraits because it's not so rough and perfect for portraits. You will love it!. I think I paid about $13.00 and I cut it in half since I usually like my portraits 11 X 14.... If I use Canson I paint on the smooth side. Enjoy the rest of the evening!!!!!

Jennifer Rose, Thanks. I know nothing about kangaroo rats. This one is very cute and soft ... hugable.

hmuxo, yes, I like Colourfix paper a lot. Have used it for years. It takes water and can be wiped and used several times. I have quite a bit of this Canson Mi Tientes paper and should use it up, so for sketches it is good. I actually like doing pastel paintings on it. Since it doesn't hold so many layers, I have to be more accurate the first time. Ha.

I seem to have missed commenting on the kangaroo rat. Nice rat!

I follow on FB an artists, Jan Min, who has recently been traveling in South America. I thought you would like this Change "www.google.com" painting.

Thanks, Bag Blog. Jan's sketches are so good, typical of the areas. Thanks again.
