Challenge Sketch

Yesterday was quiet and beautiful.  The weather has been so nice.  A rain shower midday cooled off the heat.  We walked and did mostly nothing...

For the September challenge I got out the big sketchbook and sketched a couple of ntl's photos.  The flower is mostly white and the horse was a dappled grey, so I didn't bother with color.  It would be fun to do the white flower in pastels, though, as white is never just white!

The flower is a Peruvian Monstrose that blooms only at night.  Interesting.  The cactus has long stems that grow 7 feet tall or more.

The day before Gene rode his trike toward Eagle Nest.  I played SAG car and passed him and waited for him along Highway 64.  I did a sketch in the watercolor book and plan to add watercolor.  Maybe today, eh?

These sheets of paper in a sketchbook are 9 x 12 inches.

We sat out on the porch both of the last two nights, very pleasant.

Yesterday's sunset.  Not from the porch which faces sort of southeast.

A  couple of interesting artists come to mind today.

Rae Andrews, artist friend from the Austin Pastel Society, is a prolific and wonderful artist.  She paints in watercolor and pastel mostly.  She gives classes and is a delight to be around.  You should check out her classes in Austin and the area.  She has a jaunt to Europe every year, too.  I love her color combinations and exciting work.

Tim Munin, from the UK,  has joined in our Scavenger Hunts.  Beautiful detailed digital drawings that have the feel of oil paintings.  He has been painting volcanoes in Chile and Bolivia. He does still life, too.   Beautiful to see.

love colouring white objects, so many colours can be reflected in them :)

Jennifer Rose, yes, painting white is a great painting exercise.

The weather has not been too hot here. The HHH last week was actually very nice. Perfect for bikers! Still, being in NM would be so nice. sigh.

Bag Blog, yep, the weather is a bit cooler here, too. We have had the fireplace on almost every morning. It would be nice for you to be here and we could paint together!
