Pastel Sketch Cactus Blooms

The Southwest and Western Art Forum on wetcanvas.com has a monthly challenge.  It is hosted by one of the artists. The artist puts up several photos for the others to sketch from for a month.  The Forum has great artists in many varieties of work, including sculpture, painting, carving, etc.

I'm hosting for August.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1431793
Come on over and join in!  At least go have a look at the paintings/sketches and the photos I put up.

I chose to do my first challenge of the cactus blooms.  I cropped and edited a bit.  You are free to do that.  It is fun to see the different artists and their ideas from the same photos.

Love the painting of the cactus blossoms! I will have to check out the photos and maybe participate once things calm down artwise here. The Urban Sketching Symposium was so much fun but exhausting. Then I came home to have to select 5 paintings and get them ready to drop off at a clothesline art sale for this weekend. Will try to pop into Wet Canvas soon too.

Joan, I need to look at your post-Symposium posts. Your trip must have been great. Always tired after a workshop or art trip. We wear out our brains!

Busy busy lady, good luck at the sale. See you on WC.

I always love cactus blooms. These are great! I want to look at the Urban Sketching Symposium photos, too.

By the way, I think Jesse is going to be working at the Hotter'n Hell rather than riding in it. Is Larry going to be working/taking pics?

Bag Blog, Thanks.

I'll check with Larry today about Hotter'n Hell. That would be neat.

Jennifer Rose, pastels are bright. They don't have to be, but I love color!
