Pastel Hat Fix and Photos

I got Gene to put on the hat for 5 minutes again and worked on his sketch a bit.  Old on your left and new on your right. Worked on the hat and the Spiderman glasses.   Not sure if it is better, but a bit more practice and using the pastels.  We were going to an early dinner, so not much painting time.

Pastel sketch, 11 x 14 inches

I walked this morning and took a few photos.  The blue herons or whatever they are were posing for a bit.

The water level has gone down quite a bit in the small lake/pond.  No islands since last year.

This is a different heron.  Hard to get the ones in flight with my old iPhone 4.  I got Jennie's hand me down iPad Pro so may get her iPhone when the new one comes out.  Ha.

The table and bench from my previous sketches.

This looks like the same kind of dragon fly I sketched the other day.  It is fun to see how many colors and shapes there are.  Beautiful colors and flickers in the light.

Some cattails and blue flowers from my walk.  They look pretty but may be invasive as I recall.  There is a section of bamboo as well, doesn't seem to have spread too far, yet.  Ah, you can see the table and bench in the background.

Pour in oil slowly while nonetheless mixing.

I like the changes in the hat. Nice photos from around the lake.

Joan, thank you. The lakes/ponds are always changing with the water levels and what goes on around them. I'm always seeing the same things, then something different pops into view! I thought we had been seeing one or maybe two of the herons. Today I saw four.

Anonymous, I think you were commenting on a food blog about making mayonnaise. It showed up here. Hmmm.

Hats are difficult to draw and make them look right. Putting them on someone's head is even more difficult.

Maybe if you pour oil in it....ha!

Bag Blog, I should have taken a photo and worked from that. He was nodding off the first time and ready to go the second time. Sigh.....

The oil comment is interesting.....

the pastel changes do look you better :)

Jennifer Rose, thanks. I don't spend a lot of time on sketches. I never think of doing "real" portraits. I admire people that do portraits, hard to do!
