Road Trip Sketchy Sketches

Sketching in the travel sketchbook is a bit different.  Smaller sketches and I was using a Micron 08 which has a bigger nib and a bit messy for small.

For Scavenger Hunt 500 ... yes ... 500.  I have been around for most of them.  It started in July 2006 and I must have started posting in number 2 or 3.  Jeanne has been around for the whole time.  We have other faithful sketchers and many that come in and out when they feel the need to practice things from real life.  For me it is like my homework and has kept me sketching when I haven't been painting.  Sometimes it is even fun!

I have met so many good artists and fun folks on the Hunts.

Here is Hunt 1 so you can see the original idea.  I was surprised at some of the artists that were posting way back when...

Here is Hunt 500

The first Hunt was a tiny bit different.  Because this is 500 and I am the host, we are using the list from the first Scavenger Hunt.  Come on and join in!

Number 1, lamp - a couple in our cabin.  The top one is a leatherette with Indian designs and the other has turquoise colored metal ducks as a base.
Number 2, glasses
Number 3, beads - my glass chain.  I didn't number them so things will be out of order.

Number 4, hat
Number 5, vehicle - the bike/trike rack is on the back but doesn't really show from this angle.

After Lubbock we stopped to visit our neice and family in Yeso, New Mexico.  Fun to see them.  From there it was on to Albuquerque to eat at Casa de Benevidez, our favorite New Mexican restaurant.

We spent the night in Cuba, New Mexico.  Beautiful country.  The Frontier Motel was allright for a small town.  Gene rode his trike.  This is some of the almost white sand between Cuba and Farmington.

From Cuba it was on to Durango to visit with a friend we met in Bolivia in 1974 and then Gene's boss from out time in Phoenix.  It was wonderful to get together, even if the time was short.

We are now in Buena Vista, Colorado. still heading north.  We have a great cabin and have stayed an extra day.  Gene rode his trike yesterday and I hope to actually get the pastels out today.

Our cabin with the nice deck to rest on. This a very comfortable place to stay.   We are at Vista Court. www.vistacourtcabins.com

A view from the deck.  You can see some snow on the mountains.  It was 34 degrees here this morning!  We didn't bring many warm clothes.  You would think we had never made a trip north of Albuquerque.  Sigh......  Looking for a Walmart.....

If this comment shows up several times, it is because I had computer problems posting the comment. Anyway, I recognized the beads and glasses - they made me smile - as did the 34 degree temps. I'm looking forward to some cool mountain air.

Bag Blog, I did the same on your blog. Using the iPad I relax my hand and something sends or opens... OK, my excuse is I'm old. Have fun in the mountains, it is wonderful!
