Sketches for Hunt 496

I sketched in the living room on the hassock/footstool in the big book with the Micron 01 and added some colored pencil.

Sorry about the blurry photo, taken with my old iPhone.
Number 1, gat - this is a substitute, Gene's air pellet gun.  He shoots at the squirrels and crows with little success.  Not that he is a bad shot, the squirrels just jump and run off, the crows know and fly away.  He did get a rat with it!  He has a gat, revolver/pistol, that was his dad's.  I forgot about it.
Number 2, drink - the V8 Fusion that has become my favorite
Number 3, red and Number 4, blue - hard candies  of unknown flavor and quality.  They were with the little dog I got while in the hospital.  Probably made in China!

Gene usually does our grocery shopping.  I really dislike going to the store, but when I was out the other day with the sketching group, I went and picked up a few things.

I saw this section of exotic fruit ?? at our HEB grocery.  The green ones in the middle are as big as a medium watermelon.  I'm hoping my Thailand friend on the Hunts will advise on use and how to eat.  They look like they are covered with little plastic stems.   Maybe a reader will know??

Have a happy Mother's Day tomorrow.  Hope you see your mom!  Larry is coming tonight and the plan is to have lunch tomorrow with Joanna and Jennie, too.  :)

my first thought was they were durian fruit, but they might not be, but if they are they stink and are even banned in places due to the smell lol probably a jackfruit tho since they are not as spiky as a durian, but I have no idea how you eat one

Yep, Jennifer they appear to be Jackfruit. The durian are very stinky according to wikipedia. There is a Jackfruit Company that uses unripe ones and makes it up in as substitute meat, like BBQ I read. Ai in Thailand says they are sticky inside so they have the vendor slice and put the usable pulp in a carton to take with them. Sort of fruity when ripe. Seems to be a lot of trouble to eat any way you do it.

I'm so jealous of your HEB store.

Bag Blog, yes, HEB is a really nice store. We have so many choices and more and more ready to eat things. I got a meat loaf with mashed potatoes last week in an aluminum casserole, just heated for 20 minutes. Also a salad. Dinner for two nights with no fuss. Not as good as my mom made but definitely passable for the two of us. I miss the store when we travel. I am amazed at the complaints I hear walking around the store. I can even get Sadie's Salsa from the Albuquerque restaurant! We are such a spoiled generation!!

Now you are just rubbing it in!
