I was surprised to find a little owl on my computer from Cupid this morning! Happy Valentine's Day!
Gene always looks for the "ugly" toys that no one wants and he rescues it and gives to me. The candy was tied to the owl's ear. Ouch! I had forgotten about the candies for Valentine's. The front yellow one I gave to Gene. He does not like the word "awesome", very overused. So appropriate for him to get that one! The little ugly duckling, uh... owl, is really very cute, eh?
I sketched for Scavenger Hunt 484 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1421582 with a Micron 05 and colored pencils, quickly in the large sketchbook.
Number 12, toy or plush toy
Number 13, tied together - the candies with ribbon to the owl's ear
Number 14, funnel - a new collapsable one that came with salt and pepper grinders. Handy, but we will send them back. The grinder part was too small for the pepper corns, weird. Worked for the salt. Maybe they sent two salt grinders. :-) Plan B, look for some at Walmart.
We have had battery grinders for a few years, but I decided to save on batteries. They usually take six double A batteries. Lots of waste when you can grind with your hands. Gene will miss his toys.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

I like the owl. GBN1 is very into owls these days. Whenever I see videos on owls, I show them to her. She is a funny girl.
Happy Valentine Day.
Bag Blog, thanks. I never thought I would have a stuffed owl. Ha!
Jo, I really enjoyed this post! Your ugly little owl is adorable (and I'm thinking Gene must be too)! Sweet Valentine's Day gift and the sketches are
always super!
Hey Rosemary! Thank you so much. Gene is ornery but sweet! You have been so busy and painting so much. Good for you!
its a cute little own, not ugly at all tho. ok, maybe a little odd looking, but not ugly :p
Jennifer Rose, I guess ugly compared to the little bears and other little guys!
Love the owl and the sketch of the owl!
Joanna, the owl is very soft, too. Probably softer that in real life, eh?
