Gesture Sketches

Gesture sketches are great for your eye.  The plan was to sketch folks at Gene's visit to physical therapy.  Problem was we waited in an area with just three guys.  I could not see the people working out.  The travel sketchbook and Micron 05 were my tools of choice.

Number 7, three or more gesture sketches

Number 8, for play - a xylophone on the floor for kids to play with, left before I finished but it is not too bad.
Number 9, art supply - small box of pastels.

Gene was given some exercises to do to ease pain in his neck.  He doesn't have to go back unless it gets worse.  Mostly we are just getting old.  Gene is pretty active for the shape he is in.   He filled out a form recently and put down that he was in excellent health.  After he sent it in, he laughed, "I've had three heart attacks, prostate cancer and Parkinson's.  Guess that wouldn't be considered excellent."  Well he feels like it is excellent and that is what counts!

Jennifer Rose and Joan, Gene is very positive. People ask, "How are you?" and he says, "If I was any better, I'd be twins." LOL He needs a new answer, have one???

I had my little girls class work on gesture drawings in class. Then I gave them homework for their sketch books - to do gesture drawings. Some did it well, but most of them did a finished drawing of a person. They did pretty well on the person, but their drawings did not capture the movement that a gesture drawing captures. Funny girls.

Gesture drawings are great. I've done them at the baseball games which is a good place to learn to be quick..... The girls will get better I am sure. Fun!
