I Lied! Grand Sketch Final - Photos Home

I got everyone all hyped up about sketching all twenty-six items together for the FIRST time.  I lied.  I was going to use colored pencil on the large sketch.  That is way too much coloring for me.  The paper in the large sketchbook is not really made for watercolor and the pages crinkle.

I opened it  this morning to see if the sketch had flattened out a bit. It was passable, but when I was looking through sketches I saw that I did the large sketch of all twenty-six items in April!  In fact I used many of the same items.  You would have thought it would ring a bell and I would have changed the plate for example.  Sigh.  Guess that is what happens as we age or at least when I age!

Here is the finished sketch in two pages of the big sketchbook.  With watercolor.  I substituted the scallop shell shaped Inca bottle for shell and put the ring for gemstone and then a little rock by the bowl so there are 27 items!  Scavenger Hunt 469 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1414055

Here it is in April on one page (lots of empty space around it) in the big sketchbook with colored pencil.

I used the same plant and flower pot, same vase and geranium, same church for copper, same pitcher, same cloth for yellow, and the brass is the larger of two little brass tins in the April version.  Same shelf, too.  For a shell I substituted a bowl with shark's teeth spilling out on the yellow cloth.

I cannot find that I ever posted the April sketch on my blog.  Weird.  I did post it on Scavenger Hunt 447.

I went for a walk this morning around the lake.  They added some new bridges while we were gone.  If it rains now we can still walk around.  Nice.

The first bridge is across the spillway.  The easterly lake on the left.  The path is around the westerly lake to the right.

The turtle is in the left lake.

The next bridge is the spillway out of the lakes so we can cross the mud and overflow.

The westerly lake from the far end.

Bridge number three on my walk.  They used to have a culvert, but it was not big enough in those last big rains and the water backed up into a couple of houses.

Bridge number 4, near the old fishing piers that are now unusable.  Again there was a culvert that didn't do the job.

And our house as I got back by the first bridge to end my circle walk.  It is close to a mile.

Jo, what fun to see your two different sketches with all the items in two scavenger hunts! Both are charming, and it's a fun "hunt" for your visitors (like me) to look at all the items you have gathered and grouped together. Very creative, indeed. Thank you, too, for taking us on your lovely walk; the new bridges look wonderful.

Hi, Mary! It has been a long summer without much internet. I love your beautiful silk work. Thank you for checking out my sketches. We do enjoy our "yard" out back. Looks like you survived the storm OK. Very scary from our point of view.

I didn't remember you posting the big sketch back in April. I was thinking, "Surely, I would have remembered that." I'm glad to know that you didn't and I was not quite as forgetful as I thought. This memory/age thang! Toby asked me to bring a folder to town when I went to meet him for lunch (he had forgotten and left it on the kitchen island). I distinctly remember walking into the kitchen to get it, patting myself on the back that I remembered. Later at lunch when Toby asked me for the folder, I got that stupid look on my face. I couldn't remember actually getting the folder, and of course I had forgotten it. So what did I do when I went into the kitchen to get it??

Anyway, I like your posting both big sketches. It is fun to see them and compare them.

Toby makes a trail around our pond sometimes, but it is more like a hike than a walk. Your walk is really nice!

Bag Blog, It is funny after to remember these things, but not too funny when it happens, eh?

It is hot and muggy this morning. Well, not too hot yet, but muggy. Maybe I can walk if I go early.

I like both sketches, there is enough differences between them that the items make nice still lifes

the bridges look like they will come in handy with the rain/flooding, shouldnt end up covered in mud

Jennifer Rose, thank you! I still can't believe that something didn't jog my memory. Same place and many of the same items. Hmmm. The bridges are pretty neat.

Funny that you didn't remember doing it back in April. Nice job anyway. I just haven't gotten any enthusiasm to clear shelves and gather items for the hunt...too many other things to do. lol

Joan, It was strange not to remember. The plant sits on that shelf anyway, and some of the other items, too. Just move a few around. I'm usually too lazy to get up and get anything to sketch. Ha.
