464 En route Sketches Photos

I sketched in ABQ and SVC.  Airline codes for Albuquerque and Silver City.  I used a Micron 03 and some watercolor on a few.

For Scavenger Hunt 464
Number 1, sardines - a real surprise that Virginia eats them.  Their dad liked them and so did mine.  I thought that like was long gone.
Number 2, kerosene lamp - Virginia had one of those as well.
Number 3, chopsticks - most of us have those.

Number 4, stuffed toy - I was surprised to find one here in our "old" rental.  This house is decorated like  the old days.  My grandmother could have lived here.
Number 5, wind chimes

Number 6, flag - at the golf course where we played so much.  Can you tell I didn't use a photo?  The golf course looks much the same but New Mexico Western University is taking over.  They built a new clubhouse and will still have public tee times.  We had a glass of wine and enjoyed reminiscing.  Hole 18 was my least favorite, uphill and long for me.  Why is the last hole uphill at many courses?  Hard when you walk!

I have too much to write about.  Maybe now I will have time to paint and write since we will be here a month.  Many haunts have changed or disappeared.

It is so easy to get out of a routine/habit and so hard to get back.  We had a good time in ABQ.  Mainly we visit and eat.  We like Barrela's for breakfast, Casa de Benevidez for dinner with all around good food at Virginia's, Gene's sister's.

We also took a day to go to Grants to see my sis, Barbara.  That was a good day, too.  We ate at the Kiva in Milan.  Barbara is 7 years older than me.  She still teaches adult classes at the Catholic Church.  She gave me a bracelet that belonged to my mom.  Mom wore it every day.  Fun!  Also a ring that my dad's sister, Aunt Mary, gave her years ago.  Two new antiques in our world now.

I have easily taken over a thousand photos.  I retake photos I have taken before on our travels, then forget to take photos of my sister and I or other family members we don't see often.  Oh well.

The motel and restaurant we frequent in Socorro.  It is old, but the rooms are updated and the restaurant is good and the chile has no flour so I can eat it!

The Water Canyon Lodge between Socorro and Magdalena was an icon in the really old days.  It has been pretty much deserted for 50 years or so.  Looks like they are going to use it for something.

Magdalena Mountain

The old elementary/grade school and the newer cafeteria part.  I think they use the cafeteria part for a cabinet making shop and may even life in it.
One of the antennas at the Very Large Array.  Google it to see what that is all about.  Amazing to see all 26 of them at once.

The Danley house.  Posting this for my cousin in Walden.
And a windmill out on Highway 60 west of Magdalena.  Love those windmills!

Well, more down the road.  We are off to Palomas, Mexico, to the dentist.   And the Pink Store!!  Free margaritas while you shop.  :-)

Margaritas while you shop...sounds like fun. You will have to find some new haunts if the old ones have changed. Glad you are sketching for the hunts. I couldn' figure out how to resize and save photos to post over there...too hard. Lol Enjoy your stay.

Joan, yes, I'm sure they sell a lot more when customers are imbibing. :-). I use iPhoto on Gene's computer, hard on the iPad. Joanna uses some app on her phone, I should get one, sigh.

Jennifer Rose, hi. I do take many photos! I think we get chopsticks every time we bring food home from the restaurants. I don't have nice ones anymore. I had some from Korea that were stainless steel with brass, pretty.

I see the metal ones all the time on the videos I watch about Korean food, makes me want to get a set and see if I can use them any better :)

Jennifer Rose, the chopsticks were difficult and I hit my teeth, clank. Ha! Sort of heavy. They were beautiful, though.
