Another Hunt -- 449, First Friday note and more

A new Scavenger Hunt 449
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1404319
is up and running.  It started April 29 so I am slow to the starting line.  Nice thing is, that we, sketchers, do not have to start or end on time.  We can post or not post and comment or not comment.  A relaxed group but I like to take part as often as I can.  I was my typical lazy self.

I sketched in the big sketchbook with a Micron 08 and added colored pencil.  For the scenery I went out and sat on the sidewalk curb and held the book on my lap.  I thought you all deserved a change of scenery.  I normally sit on the porch and sketch toward the lakes.

Number 1 feather looking through a magnifying glass - my little feather about 3.5 inches long is getting frayed and has holes in it.  Is it just disintegrating or do we have mini bugs of some sort.  Eeeuuuu.  The sketch is a little less than half the length of the feather.  I should have used a finer nib, the 08 is pretty thick for the tiny feathers.
Number 2, jewelry - a silver roadrunner pin with a turquoise eye.
Number 3, something orange - a knife in its scabbard
Number 4, favorite knife - the red counterpart out of its scabbard.
Number 5, scenery - across the street.

Too much green can be boring to work with in painting.  Our eyes have to add to it.

The Longhorns play tonight.  I wish they would "play" and have fun.  They were swept last weekend by Oklahoma State (lost all of the three games).  They were tied for 3rd place with Oklahoma State in the conference.  Now they are about 5th.  They have to win the tournament in Oklahoma City near the end of May to get into the NCAA playoffs for a chance (and I mean any chance) to go on to the College World Series.  They have had a very 'off ' year for Texas.  We support them and go to the games, but it hasn't been as much fun.  They seem to have all the talent, some wins have been big.  In others they struggle and it shows.  Ah, well.  Hook 'em Horns!

"Too much green can be boring..." that is profound - like a light came on in my brain.

The only reason I would ever cheer for the Longhorns would be in hopes of seeing you at OKC for the baseball tournament. I guess not this year.

Bag Blog, ha! You did say your painting was too green the other day. I think that is why I have a hard time painting landscapes here. I keep trying. Well, when I actually paint. If this had been a painting I would have put some lavender or pink in the sky, too.

I don't think the Longhorns will be last in the conference. They will go to Oklahoma if they are not last. If there was any way to win the tournament, then they could go on toward Omaha. You should be happy that Texas Tech is numero uno! They don't have to win the tournament to carry on, so can relax and have fun!

Thanks, Jennifer Rose. Green is not a favorite of mine. Teal and turquoise are as close as I get. Beige and brown are the absolute worst. Ha!

yeah I try to avoid browns as much as possible lol has there place, but not the best colours to work with
