We had a great weekend a couple of weeks ago. Regina http://reginaburchett.com/ and Larry Burchett visited from North Carolina. I post pretty often about Regina. She and I have been pastel painting buddies since we moved to Bastrop.
It is so good for the soul to paint with someone else, especially when you are good friends. It renews your interest, gets you excited about painting and makes you smile. It doesn't matter what you paint or how good it comes out.
We worked in my studio. Regina had not tried Pan Pastels so we started with those and went from there. Regina worked on a sky, her favorite subject. I started a donkey. Will I finish it? Hope so.
Regina's sky, not finished. It is on an 8 x 10 Pastelbord as I recall. I'm anxious to see the finish. It looks almost finished to me!
This is as far as I got on the donkey. The photo I was using had a fence with a wire across his eye and I couldn't see the eye so I downloaded another photo with an eye to adapt to this one. So, not finished.
We enjoyed the visit. I hope it isn't as long until our next visit.
The lawn mowers are careful to go around the wildflowers in the yard. We have so few bluebonnets. The Indian Paintbrushes are more plentiful in and out of the yard. Nice of them to do this.
I don't think I ever posted the winners from the Annual Juried Members Exhibition of the Austin Pastel Society. It will be on the website soon but in the meantime you can have a look here. https://goo.gl/qzM4Bm The show is still up in Austin for a couple of weeks if you get downtown. Info on the APS website. http://www.austinpastelsociety.com/
Maybe I will be back to a regular routine. We will see.
Routines are hard during baseball season. There is a game tomorrow night in Austin if these thunder storms move out of here. Hook 'em Horns!!
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

baseball is part of your life, so its a routine :)
very nice pastel pieces from you both, I hope you finish the donkey :)
It is so nice to have a painting friend to work with!!! Both of you are off to a good start...or more than a start it looks like.
Jennifer Rose, I always wonder if we didn't spend so much time on baseball that I would get more "stuff" done in all those hours. Then we have a weekend with the games "away" and I don't do anything. Ha. Thank you.
Joan, thanks. I know you go out with the Urban Sketchers and your sister, so you know how great it is. Hope things are going smoothly with you. Hugs.
I'm in the hospital minus my appendix. And having trouble with the internet service. I can't see the pics, but when I do, I'll re-comment.
Oh, my! Bag Blog. Hope all is fine and you recover rapidly!!! Hugs.
yes, get better soon!!
Thanks, Jennifer Rose, I think Bag Blog (Lou) will see your comment. :)
