Sketching for 415 and more New Mexico Photos

Sketching and traveling, that is the norm in the summer.  We went to see Byrd and Street in Cimarron.  We stayed at the old St. James Hotel, but not in the haunted part.  It is nice.  They were closing some session at the Philmont Scout Ranch so the restaurant was full until 8 p.m.  We had to eat elsewhere which in Cimarron is the Hot Spot Deli.  We had tacos.  Nice in New Mexico that the side was posole which is corn a bit like hominy but a better taste.  It is dry corn cured in lime like they do for corn tortillas so has some flavor.  I much prefer posole to Spanish rice which many restaurants serve.  I have never figured out what Spanish rice has to do with Mexican food, especially New Mexican food.

Byrd and Street at the Colfax Tavern, New Mexico aka as Cold Beer on the map.

The sunset from the back of the stage.

The concert was very nice.  Out on the deck on a lovely evening.  Byrd and Street always put on a great show.  They stopped by and had lunch with us in Angel Fire when we came back "home".

I sketched in between doing nothing and running around.  I sketched in the small sketchbook with the Micron 01 pen.  I still haven't unpacked my paint stuff, yikes!  Bag Blog, Lou, will be here this week to paint.  I need a warm up!

For Scavenger Hunt 415, I'm hosting.  http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1384981

One of our sketchers from the Hunts, Kivrin 65, passed away from liver cancer this past week.  She lived in Texas and had a soft, friendly way with our group.  She had been on wetcanvas since 2004, two years longer than me.  We will miss her friendship and seeing her lovely sketches and pastels and drawings. Sympathy goes out to her husband and family.   RIP Kivrin......
