Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I hope your holidays are full of art, fun, love and family and you have a great new year to follow.
We don't send Christmas cards. Gene spends Christmas Eve and Christmas Day calling friends and family. It is always fun to catch up by voice. If you are not on his list and want to get a call, just e-mail me your number. :)
Our son David was on the road to Michigan from Kentucky and sent us a photo from his phone. He said, "I'm having breakfast with Santa." , or something like that. The photo was just of a man's head with white hair and a beard. I was inspired to paint Santa, something that I have never thought of doing. I started thinking about him checking his list and having coffee in a diner at the North Pole. The photo was only a head shot so Gene posed for me and here is the result. Gene is not that fat, but it really helped for the shadows and hands.

I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you at this special time of year and will be back in touch in 2015.
Happy Holidays, all y'all!
This post was more or less my newsletter. It is usually about new work and exhibits with other art related info. You can subscribe to my newsletter and read back issues above right on the sidebar. I send it out just a few times a year. I'm working to making it more regular. See how it goes......

It's a fun painting!
The Santa painting is nice.
David was smart to snap the photo and send it to you.
I hope you and yours have a great Christmas and New Years. We will be doing our talent show on Christmas Eve, and then spending Christmas day with the different families - first Toby's family and then mine.
Joanna, thanks. It was fun for a change, just to paint with no expectations.
Bag Blog, David had no idea I would use his snapshot. It just struck me to do it. Weird.
You have a great Christmas! Sounds like a fun (and tiring) time. Hugs all around!
