Number 6, made of leather - the tops of the two little tables from Peru are made of leather.
I also painted, yes a shock, I know. I am thinking of whether I am taking it to Art Connections now or save for my show in February. Decisions, decisions...... You will be the first to know.
The last couple of weeks have been full of music. The Downtown Business Association http://www.bastropdba.org/ has been providing live music for shoppers. It is a nice idea that I hope catches on. It is a lot of work for the folks involved and is free for the shoppers. They have it in an open spot between buildings on Main Street, conviently located for a rest stop.
On this page http://www.bastropdba.org/christmas.html you can find out about some of the activities:
- Lighted Christmas Parade
- Ice Skating
- Lights on the River
- Live Christmas Music
- Shopping Discounts
- Home tours
- Ballet and Plays
- and much more
I can't believe there is soooo much going on.
We took part in the street music on December 6. By taking part, I mean we watched and listened. We arrived to see our friends, Byrd & Street, byrdandstreet.com perform. They are just super. Am I biased? I don't think so.
Kathy Street and Tommy Byrd in Bastrop on Main Street
The following night was the Mistletoe Jam. http://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/woohoo-mistletoe-jam-time.html What a fun time! So many artists and variety of songs. Wow!
George Ensle is a wonderful singer. http://www.georgeensle.com/
The finale is always a group and audience participation of "Silent Night"
Jimmy Roggiere on harmonica with Kathy Street and Tommy Byrd.
It is hard to get good photos at night so bear with me. Photos of the other "stars" did not turn out well enough to post. Susan Gibson http://www.susangibson.com/ and Betty Soo http://www.bettysoo.com/ are fun. Well, all the groups made the sold out show a big success. I thank all the performers for their donations of talent and time and all the guests for helping out the kids.
Wednesday night, we went to the Spiderhouse Ballroom in Austin for the Brian Kremer www.briankremermusic.com/ CD release with the Carper Family www.carperfamilyband.com/ . Oh, such a night! The night was opened by "The Light Upstairs" (no photo) http://thelightupstairsband.com/ They were an entertaining duo as well.
The good news is that The Carper Family is performing at The Bugle Boy http://thebugleboy.org/ in La Grange on Saturday, December 13. They will have Cindy Cashdollar http://www.cindycashdollar.com/ with them. The Bugle Boy will rock! Not rock and roll but the building will be jumping! If you can't make it live and in person, you can stream it by going to The Bugle Boy page and signing on there. You will not be disappointed!!
Way back in November for Veterans Day, we saw music downtown as well. I posted here about it. http://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/2014/11/happy-veterans-day.html We went down on Sunday, too, and saw Jenny Reynolds and André Moran, as I mentioned in that post. I hadn't downloaded my photos so here you are then.....
If you can get to listen to Jenny, you will love her voice. Shoot, just buy a CD, you will like it a lot!

See you at The Bugle Boy!
Don't forget all the happenings in Bastrop, too! Might see you there, too.

Glad you are painting again. Maybe the music inspired you!
Joanna, yes it was a great time.
Joan, hopefully I will stay inspired. Christmas is getting in the way. Ha.
