Gene has finally found some squirrel proof bird feeders. He always thought that "squirrel proof" was an oxymoron. So here we go:
Here is the squirrel contemplating his breakfast. A bit windy which doesn't help. How do they climb the steel poles?
Trying out the openings in the feeder.
Giving up, he tried the other side first before I got the camera.
Back to scavenge what he can on the ground.
And a bonus of my poor photo of the Blood Moon. It was pretty cold to be out there at 2:15 a.m., but so beautiful to see. The whole sky was amazing.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

You have got to get a better camera for times like this!!!
Gene, probably a good idea. One of these days I'll find a camera I like. :)
I think you should get a bb gun. I certainly could not hit a squirrel, but it would be fun to try.
Bag Blog, Ha! Gene has a pellet gun and was shooting them. They would jump up and flip over and pretty sure the same ones were back in a while. We haven't had as many squirrels here as we had when we at the house right in the trees.
Jo- you got a great photo of the Blood Moon! It was rainy here. I was awake but shucks, that is wonderful. Thanks
Azulparsnip, thank you. I really need a better camera but it was so beautiful. There are some amazing photos on line, eh? See ya.
Fun photos of the squirrel! We couldn't see the blood moon due to the cloudy weather here, but it looks beautiful in the photo.
Joan, thank you. The night/morning was beautiful!
Congratulations, Jo, on your paintings being in a show and in being the featured artist for the May art walk--super to hear.
I have enjoyed browsing all your recent posts, especially the group of terrific paintings a few posts back.
Very enjoyable photos and just love your pastels.
Mary, thank you so much. It is nice for you to stop by. Your silk painting is beautiful.
Joan S. , thank you, too. Appreciate the visit. I like seeing your sketches, especially the watercolors. You are right that sketching helps when you can't paint.
Silly squirrel.
Joanna, we don't have nearly as many squirrels to watch here. I loved watching them run up and down the big trees at the other house. They could cover the whole yard and not get out of the tree limbs.
I saw someone walking a big dog on campus this afternoon and they let him go to chase a squirrel up a tree. The squirrel was quite pleased with itself once it got out of range.
Joanna, ha! The squirrels are fun to see.
