First Friday Music and Sketching for 350

It turns out we will have music for the reception on Friday!  A traveling duo, Sun Flights.  Hope you can come have a listen!  http://thesunflights.bandcamp.com/

Bastrop First Fridays have really grown.  It all started as the monthly  featured artist reception for the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild.  The Guild was at 1009 Main Street.  The first reception was with Kathy Molder, photographer, in 2000.  The idea was to get the front window decorated and changed monthly and also have a chance for people to meet the artists and share refreshments. At first, the date for the reception was picked by the artists.  Thursday was usually the night or Saturday afternoons.  Several years ago, it was decided to have the reception on the first Friday of the month for consistency.   Soon it developed into First Friday, then First Friday Art Walk.

Now, the downtown businesses have joined in and the First Friday Art Walk is a great way to spend a night on the town.  Will we see you there?

I sketched today in the sketchbook with a Prismacolor Premier 03 for Scavenger Hunt 350.  Tomorrow is the last day of this Hunt.  I will be hosting  Hunt 351 and need to get it posted tonight, they overlap a day so artists around the world start at about the same time.  I didn’t get many sketches done , as usual.  My average must be about 6 - 8 sketches.

Number 4, hat - one of Gene’s walking sticks has a duck wearing a hat.  Duck is black and hat is red.  Number 5, camera - my Canon.  I sketch freehand and as quickly as I can to test my "eye".

So...how was the music?

Joanna, It was very lovely music as were the two singers! However we let them get away without buying their CDs. They may still be here, I'm checking it out. I would prefer to buy from them rather than on-line. Let you know.
