Turns out the volunteer fire departments in the area were having training by the Texas A&M Extension Service in how to get water out of lakes when there is no power for wells, etc. We spoke with them a bit and went on with our day.
On Sunday, they were back again. We weren't really prepared, but decided to fix them a snack. I made hot chocolate and lemonade. Gene opened up his Nutter Butter cookies and some gluten free graham crackers and we set up a table for them. They were very appreciative. They spent their whole weekend training. They are great, giving up personal time at this time of year to prepare themselves to help us in times of need. They deserve huge thanks and appreciation!
I'm not sure what they were doing across the lake at the fire station
Pumping in the water from the lake.
Taking a break
Getting the truck ready
Placing the hose in the lake
More adjustments on the tank
Filling the tank

The award! How nice and unexpected!
They left some hoses out and when they came back we were given an envelope. This was inside. Great guys and gals! Thank you so much! You deserve the awards!!

Bag Blog, thank you very much.
Love the certificate. Y'all are awfully thoughtful. Hugs.
Joanna, we told them if they have another weekend of training we would fix them a brisket! See if they take us up on it!
