Sketching is like homework for me. There are a few times that I just pick up a sketchbook and sketch, but for the most part I would just as soon paint. The times when I just sketch for fun are very enjoyable but far between.
I have kept up with the Scavenger Hunts because I need to sketch. If I don't sketch and post there, I feel guilty. The Hunts keep me sketching regularly. It is definitely good for my painter's eye. I see things better and figure out things quicker.
Today was a homework day. I could not find any items on the list for Scavenger Hunt 234 that I wanted to sketch. Not the fault of the list, just my lack of interest.
After much deliberation, I finally picked #1, clips, 3 kinds, as I have a variety of clips and they would be quick to sketch. I also picked oval for number 2, as I was thinking of an oval casserole we have. Well, the clips worked out. I sketched 4 as the paper clip was not too interesting, even though it was out of shape and pink. I sketched in the Canson sketchbook with the Prismacolor Premier 03.
The casserole turned out to be to the rectangle shape with very rounded corners. How the mind plays tricks. I started it anyway and then had to start over. Such is my day ....... It will have to do as my sketching for the day is over!
It turns out that I do have an oval shaped casserole. I knew it, I especially remembered the lid as it is quite different than the old Corning Ware lids. It was hidden in a cupboard and the small one was in plain sight.
Oh, I also did some more for Hunt 233 in the last few days. It ended yesterday. I used the same sketching tools and sketched at the dining table. That location is not as enjoyable as the porch evidently.
Number 8, picture or mirror on the wall - I chose my "Little Green Apples" painting.
Number 9, tube - one of Gene's tricycle tubes with the piece of rubber used to wrap it like a rubber band.
Number 10, striped fabric and Number 11, container for sweets, sugar, jelly, etc. - I sat a sugar container on a striped napkin. In my sketch the container is too tall or too skinny and of course it is not lopsided at all in real life.
Number 12, tessellating pattern - one of the plastics coasters in red, white and blue, naturally.
On the subject of Gene's tricycle, here is how dressed up it is now. He just about has it to his liking. He added the headrest and a place for the dog stick he carries. When dogs chase him he can whack them on the nose. It is a very necessary device. It has saved him quite a few times. He has been riding about 15 miles at a time, now. It is sooooo good for him and he enjoys it so much!
I haven't posted a snapshot of my studio for a while. You can see I stand on some rubber mats with a piece of naugahyde on the floor to save my legs and feet from the tile floors and maybe save a dropped pastel, too. They will shatter!
There is a can of mosquito repellent on the work table. I couldn't believe there were two mosquitos in my studio. Bites swell so badly that I just can't stand to be bitten. I have to take Benadryl which seems extreme for mosquito bites. Sigh..... I was still bitten.
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

I bet the sugar container *is* lopsided! :-)
Dad's trike is looking good.
And, I'm terribly sorry about the mosquito bites. No fun. Hugs...
Joanna, thanks, you are funny! Your dad is sure enjoying his TerraTrike.
The sketches look good. I did some cleaning on my art room yesterday, but did not get to the painting part like I meant to do. Still struggling.
Although the weather has been nice, Toby has not ridden his bike much. He has been working on the house and his project out in the barn. It is the choices we make.
Thanks, Bag Blog. It is all about choices, you are right. Being in the art room is a step in the right direction! I just watched a Lifetime movie. Sheesh, what a waste of time. :)
