Sketching Old or Old (Artist) Sketching, Photos

Our new Scavenger Hunt 321 is off and running.  One of the items was “old”.  I should have done a self portrait.  I will save that idea for another time.

It was lovely out on the porch this morning (about 80 degrees F), so I skethced in my Canson sketchbook with a Prismacolor Premier 05.  The pen is about worn out.  The sides of the narrow nib are about gone so I have to hold it fairly verticle.  Another challenge, right??  I don’t really advise adding an additional challenge to sketching.  It is hard enough as it is.

Number 1, cup - several cups on the porch rail.  Number 2, old - a stainless cream and sugar bowl that are now black.  These belonged to my grandmother so they are a minimum of 100 years old as my mother would be 108 years old this year and my dad would have been 113.  I’m sure they are older than my mom.  Yikes!

Now that I think about the creamer set, they had a tray with a red heart screwed on it.  Was it plastic or resin of some sort??  It wasn’t glass.  So maybe they are only from the depression era like the glass and not so old.  Hmmm.  Maybe they were a gift to my mom from my grandmother for a birthday or some such instead of being handed down from the really old days.  We shall never know.  I looked on-line and couldn't find any similar.

I keep forgetting to look at the sunset.  Lately at 830 p.m. we are watching TV and have the blinds closed to keep out the evening sun.  I remembered last night and here is the result.  Quite purty, don’t ya think?  We are supposed to get rain today and tomorrow but at the moment the clouds are very flimsy and thin.

This morning we had a painted bunting visiting the feeders.  It was on the shady side and I could not get a better photo.

We had our “kids” out for lunch yesterday.  Very nice afternoon.  Thanks for their visit!  We really enjoy their company.  It is super quiet today.

It is supposed to rain today and tomorrow.  Yippee!  Fingers crossed and rain dancing!  However, the clouds earlier this morning were very wispy and not looking great.  It is a bit better about 10:30 a.m.  A long way to go, though.

Our lakes are very dry, you see more dirt than water, and more brown than green grass.  We need some big rains.  The weather pattern is mimicking the drought of the fifties -- not good.

Thank you, Joanna. It is still quiet. We had a bit of rain. Yay!! About .3 of an inch.

Joanna, the rain tonight, well this morning, turns north just before it gets here.

I love those Painted Buntings. One of my friends said he thought they were called Painted Bunnies. It took him a while to figure out what people were saying.

Bag Blog, funny. They are pretty birds. We never saw any at the other house. They must like more open space.
